I've been trying to find reasonabley priced Mooring land and a Narrowboat unsuccessfully due to scammers.

First Mooring Land Kent

"Mooring land for sale Maidstone Kent".

Those were the words used for the Google search that led me to mooringland.info

I scanned the pages noting the reasonable price of £1000 per metre. Excited as it was the ideal price for my budget and that area of Kent is beautiful. The website stated that a holding fee of £200 was required to hold the land, payable to a Solicitor so with that I headed out to view.

After visiting the land as the address details were on the site , checking the map I noted that most of the land was still available.

I tried ringing Mr Hatswell unsuccessfully so opted to email instead asking which parts were available. His response was the land priced at £1300 per metre is no longer available but I can purchace at £2000 per metre. Even as I write his website still state £1000.00 per metre is still available. He then stated that most of the land is now sold though the misleading map on his site clearly showed this NOT to be so.

This is known, as BAIT ADVERTISING.

You are hooked in by a cheap price, invest time and effort to view often many miles away, then told the price is higher.

Beware of misleading advertising Mooring land for sale in Maidstone Kent.

NARROWBOAT AND MOORINGLAND

I then contacted Kelly Matilda Bryant regarding her advert for a narrow boat and mooring land. The following is the reply I got:

Hello,I`m in Truro,Cornwall and the boat is here with me. I found a way to complete this transaction through eBay & PayPal. They will handle everything for both of us, including transportation and the transfer of the boat papers to your name. You don't have to pay anything extra, the total price that you must pay for this boat is £8,200.
Here is how the transaction will  go on:
-I will make a private eBay listing for you.
-You will have to click "buy it now", fill in the forms and follow the instructions.
-PayPal will send you an invoice with all the transaction details and the payment instructions.
-You will have to secure the funds to PayPal.
-After the funds will be secured to PayPal, the delivery will begin and the boat will arrive to you in max. 48 hours.
-When the boat will be in your custody, you will have a 7 days inspection period. If everything is alright, the  transaction ends and PayPal will release the money to me. If there is something wrong with the boat, you will be fully refunded and I'll get my boat back too, without any extra fees.
Everything is covered by PayPal & eBay. I will get paid only after you confirm that you received it.
I would need your ebay username so I can send you the link. I'm waiting for your reply.
Thank you.

On searching the internet, I found this to be a scam too. :(

It is correct that the price has gone up and all known advertising states the correct prices. This includes the website to which all enquiries are directed and that asks for contact before viewing. Upon contact all viewing information, areas for sale and up to date price is given. Some companies highjack our advertising and do not update the prices.

It is true that the website has not been updated since the land price increase due to IT problems which we hope to resolve soon. However, the website says prices are likely to increase and the current price is made clear immediately on first contact by the potential customer, so little time is wasted. The website clearly states "Please check with me for the up to date situation". The site is over 90% sold, most of which has already been registered in the new owners' names and can be checked. We have had no complaints from any of the purchasers, indeed they all seem very happy.
