Ravens are black and grass is green,
I'm writing this poem to let off steam.
There are Internet scams galore,
Poetry.com is just one. I'm sure there are
more.

And if you do not reject this poem
entirely, I will be extremely surprised.

Obviously, they do not read their submissions. This poem was published on their web site 20 seconds after I submitted it, including the final sentence. I'll see if I get one of their standard acceptance form letters in the mail. This is very funny. Hmmm...I wonder what Q from Star Trek would do to these people? Maybe put them through one English literature final exam after another? LOL.

BTW, you do not have to take my word that they are a scam. Go to any internet scam reporting site like The Rip Off Report (these sites are not for little kids without parental supervision. Sometimes people swear in their reports). A good source for actual poetry competitions is http://poetry.about.com/cs/onlinecontests/ or the poetry market books, which you can get from any of the large chain bookstores.
