Morgans and Associate Law Firm Morgan and Associates Law Firm Lawsuit/payday loan email scam Internet
I received an email in my main folder (spam filter didn't catch it) from "Morgans and Associate" (sic) Law Firm, the subject being a docket number. In badly broken English, they claim to have attempted to contact me repeatedly over a debt of $750 and will now be taking action such as contacting my employer to garnish my wages, and this is my "last and final chance" to take care of the debt out of court.
The only reason I gave it a second look is I do have debt, and was wondering if one of my creditors could actually be pressing charges against me (and outsourcing their typing??). Then I saw this line: "So the accounts department of Cash Advance has decided to mark this case as a flat refusal and press legal charges against you." I have never taken a cash advance/payday loan. I've applied for them, but have never actually borrowed any money from these people. The debt does not exist. The letter uses threatening language throughout, and from reading other reports on these people it seems that this is also the case if you call the number they give you. From what I've read, you're asked to pay them using a gift card.
