Jeans and T shirts at Mormon church on Sundays

#12Consumer Comment

Wed, March 23, 2011

The mormons also made an issue about me wearing sweats or T shirts and jeans to church. I told them that God didn't care what I was wearing, and I quit them shortly after that. I am a lot happier now, and when I did join a different church a few years later they didn't care what I was wearing. It is what is on the  inside that counts. They sure seemed to make Sundays a  fashion show. What about the people like me that never had nice clothes? I later found out after I left that it never mattered to God in  the first place if I couldn't afford nice things.

You're right, terrible spelling!

You are very perceptive, the Mormons have terrible spelling! They have bad grammar and numerous typos all though their Book of Mormon. How could they have let all of these typos remain in place during the time period that their church has been around?

Any guesses? And it gets worse! Read 3 Nephi 11:11, a passage attributed to Jesus. It reads, in part, "...taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered..."

What? What was that? "In the which?" What does that mean? "That" and "the" are both articles, and "that" is the article which should have been used in this verse to make it grammatically correct and understandable. No one has ever said "in the which" about anything. Have you ever heard anyone say "in the which?" I haven't, either.

And this is where it gets worse. This is supposed to be from Jesus. If this verse was in the New Testament it would be in red. But it's not, and if Christians must follow their Savior's teachings and footsteps exactly to attain their Heaven after death, the Mormons have made that impossible to do with 3 Nephi 11:11. It is a meaningless verse, it has no substance as it says nothing understandable. Their Christ could not have said it, it is gibberish. Here, a Christian striving to mime his Christ follows a path to nowhere, there is nothing at the end of the verse as the verse means nothing. It is unintelligible.

But the Mormons say that it is fine, they say "In the which!" constantly (although I've never heard them say it). So, if grammatical imperfections are allowed in their testament (and I've found a few), that means that precise teachings from their Lord aren't needed, and they can read their own interpretations into Christ's teachings. Well, we all know that's not true. The Mormons don't let you drink anything with alcohol or caffeine in it, they don't let you smoke tobacco or marijuana, and if it wasn't for polygamy, would have very little redeeming factors to their church. So the LDS allowing 3 Nephi 11:11 to exist without correcting it shows itself to be self-serving not to you, to help you save your soul, but self-serving to the Mormon Church.

Your land, earnings, and loved ones are now taken by the Mormons by the law of "in the which." You are displaced due to "in the which." Your attire is criticized because of the teachings of "in the which." And your immortal "in the which?" It will be tossed into the fiery pit of "in the which" when you die, because you are guilty of the sin of "in the which." And don't question their teachings of "in the which," as it is from Jesus Christ. It says so in 3 Nephi 11:11.

Now, go talk about blasphemy.

I went to a baptism at a Mormon church recently. The man being baptised wears all black all the time. He has piercings all over his head and tatooes everywhere. He has mental problems like multiple personality disorder and has to have his pit bull with him at all times to deal with it.

I drove an hour in bad weather to be there, pregnant and alone. I held his dog's leash while he was baptised. He was there while his wife and newborn daughter were in the hospital E.R. fighting a respitory infection; she wanted him to be there. He was there because he believed. I was there because how could I not support a man who believes that strongly?

I count myself lucky to be their friend. And I weep for those who would not know him because of how he appears. I would sit by you, my friend. I am sorry for those who are so blind they do not see...

mormon church hipocrites

I was a member of the mormon church for many years. I grew up in Salt Lake City. This attitude is typical of the church. Since when does God care what you wear to church? It seems to me that He would rather have you go to church in whatever clothes you have than not go at all. Jesus dressed in rags. If it's good enough for him then, where does this so called church get off judging people. Of course this is typical mormon. When I was a child you couldn't drink anything with caffeine in it but, now it's ok because they own stock in coke. They also speak out against gambling but own casinos in vegas. They change their doctorine so much, how do they expect people to keep up. They are the only church to do this. ALL the other organized religions doctorine has remained the same since the churchs began. Mormons change their doctorine as long as it is profitable for them!!!!

What you wear

#12Consumer Suggestion

Please! God doesn't care what you wear as long as you believe in his saving grace and are going. I have dealth with this in my own church - the very reason I switched churches. And besides it is not man's responsibility to judge our fellow man. Judging is God's responsibility. When those people who judge show me their license signed by God to judge then I will believe them until then as it states in the Bible "Don't judge your fellow man". Those people need to get a clue.

The fact that people make an effort to dress nicely for church is evidence of what's in their hearts. Maybe they didn't handle the situation very well at that particular branch of the church, but it is perfectly valid for any church to require things of its members. There is no "American value system" that says a church has to conform to the wishes of individuals. The American system is to let churches do whatever they want!

Kathy shame shame I know it would uncomfortable sitting next to someone who is not wearing shoes or hasn't took a bath in quite some time but we should never judge a person for not having shoes. Are you being a bit picky??? Sounds like it. Only God knows the persons heart you don't and I don't know the condition of that person.
How you treat that person will come back at you whether good or bad.

I know it's hard not to judge some one that's why you keep tongue in cheek and get to know that person they could be your blessing and your
next best friend..

Was Your Wardrobe Really Complete? Religious discrimination in any form is abhorrent and antithetical to our American value system.

Klajdi,

Religious discrimination in any form is abhorrent and antithetical to our American value system.

However, you do not mention anthing about shoes in your report. Many religions frown upon people who show up at places of worship barefooted. God doesn't care, but the people sitting next to you might.
