On or around the 1st of October I purchased a 2000
Mercury Sable at Auctions America. When, during the period of the Sellers Auction Guarantee, the Transmission Warning indicator began to light, I took the car to Henry Day Ford whose service technician determined that the transmission clutch solenoid was faulty and the transmission needed service to the tune of $1153.

I then returned the car to Auctions America who took it to their in house mechanic shop, Elise Motor sports. I was called back and told that their mechanic could not get the light event to recur and assured me that the problem did not exist. They claimed that they drove the car for 60 statute miles with no recurrence of the Transmission Warning indicator. The odometer however refuted this claim, indicating only 13 miles had actually been driven. None the less, I foolishly accepted their claim that the Warning light was a fluke.

After I picked up the car, I drove it for 6 miles and the warning light came on again. For the following 9 times I drove the car, the transmission warning light came on after 4-7 miles EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! I returned it to the Shop explaining that the light was a regular event. They then kept the car for 6 days. I tried calling the shop dozens of times and never contacted anyone save one time only when I was informed that Jody, the mechanic in situ was not available.

It wasn't until I actually called the Auction house, got the mobile number of the mechanic, called him on that number and threatened to call the police and report the car as stolen, did he take the car to transamerica to have THEM check the transmission. They at length came back with a diagnoses exactly the same as the one I'd received from Henry Day Fords Service department, by this time three weeks before!!!
