We purchased a Hyundai for our daughter in August 2005 from Power Hyundai (went out of business...) in Torrance, CA. The dealer encouraged us to supplement our Hyundai warranty with a VCP (Vehicle Care Plan), which would cover any service on the car not covered by the Hyundai Protection Plan. So, through the dealer, we bought the Hyundai Vehicle Protection Plan (VPP), the Motor Warranty Services of North America's VCP coverage and a GAP insurance policy administered by AutoNation.

Two months later, the car was totalled in an accident. Two and a half years later, we still haven't been reimbursed on the GAP policy. The documentation required for processing the claim is insane. (Including but not limited to: the original MSRP - you know, the one that was taped to your car's window when you bought the car (which also was thrown away that same day), the police report received at the accident scene, the full report filed later by the officer, copy of the cancelled check paid to Chase Auto Finance by Farmer's Insurance, up-to-date payment history from Chase Auto Finance, which we've had to get 9 times from Chase since this has dragged out so long that the histories we send are no longer up-to-date, evidence that we've cancelled all warranties and supplemental coverage, and on and on
...) Further, they can't process claim, they explain, because we are unable to provide proof that Motor Warranty Services of North America DIDN'T reimburse us for the value of the time remaining on our VCP coverage.

Calls to MWSNA do not reach their Chicago offices as listed on the contract. They do, however, reach an "unrelated" auto services company located "coincidently" in Torrance, CA. Hyundai of North America tells us that the supplemental VCP coverage is handled by each individual dealer, and since our dealer, Power Hyundai of Torrance, went out of business, we're stuck. "Coincidently", our former dealer, Power Hyundai of Torrance (and all of the other Power dealerships in Southern California) was owned by AutoNation. "Coincidently", AutoNation owned MWSNA, too. And "coincidently", AutoNation is the same company that administrates our GAP insurance policy.

I think MWSNA has run it's course. Look for it to reappear at your local dealership under a different name, as according to others that have encountered similar problems with their VCP coverage, these companies reinvent themselves every few years so they won't have to pay on any claims while continuing to supplement the dealers' profit.
