Motorcyclecarbs.com,Inc Robert Reid Money and parts taken: Never heard from again Internet
On 11/10/2009 I contacted Motorcyclecarbs.com, Inc. to enquire on the cost and availability of re-rubberizing a pair of CV-slides for a 1971 Honda CL 350 Carburetor. The following day I received an email reply indicating that my slides could be done and was quoted $350.00 plus $8.95 for shipping.
On 11/11/2009 I went online and placed my order for the service.
Between 11/11/2009 and 11/13/2009 I had the opportunity to simply replace my slides with some NOS replacements. At which point I contacted Motorcyclecarbs.com, Inc. to cancel my order, they do not list a phone number on their web site. I received the following reply:
"Jason. Sorry to hear about your enlightenment.
We have a bit of a situation. Per our legal page there is a %20 Order cancellation fee but since it's such a high amount, we dug into the costs,
and are willing to do that for %15. However we can instead offer a set of aftermarket replacement carbs and you
not take a penalty. http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/CARBURETOR_KIT_HONDA_CB350_MI_P10950.cfm is what I am talking about. Its approximately $50 more plus shipping.
The only down side to this is the stock air filters won't fit. You will need clamp on pod filters or to make an adapter if the dimensions allow you to.
If you wish to go down this road give me the year/make/model of the bike and I can change your order and your payment can be applied to that instead.
I saw this previously on their web site and didn't have a problem with it. I indicated to Robert to simply refund the money as requested. I also requested some information regarding an issue I was having with my rebuild and received a very helpful response a few days later which actually helped me out a lot. Point being the response was quick.
Soon after, the NOS parts deal fell through and on 11/25/2009 I sent a reply back to Robert regarding the slide rebuild.
"Robert,
I waited for about a week and received no-reply. Thinking everything was still good and not seeing any refunds on my credit card I sent in the slides to be rebuilt on 12/1/2009. The package was sent FedEx and required Direct Signature. On 12/03/2009 my slides arrived and were signed for by NMurray.
I waited 6 weeks for my rebuilds and didn't hear anything back. So I emailed Motorcyclecarbs.com, Inc. again wondering what news if any. There was no rush, I just wanted to know what to expect. On 1/13/2010 I sent the following email to customersupport@motorcyclecarbs.com on 1/13/2010. Again, I expected to have to go through some confusion as I had waffled on my original order. I received no reply.
"Can someone tell me what the status is for my order? The number is 5580 and it's been about 6 weeks since I sent my carb diaphragms in to be repaired.
It wouldn't surprise me if there was some confusion with this order I just wanted to see if there was anything that needed to be cleared up.
Jason K"
I sent another email to orderstatus@motorcyclecarbs.com which basically gave the same details as have been read up to this point. No response.
Then again on 2/15/2010 no news or my CV slides. I noticed that I did not send an email directly to the source that responded so well, so I did...
Rob,
I sent in my carb slides to be re-done back at the beginning of December. I have neither seen the results nor have a heard anything back after emailing "orderstatus@motorcyclecarbs.com" and "customersupport@motorcyclecarbs.com"
I honestly expect to their be some confusion surrounding the order because I initially cancelled it. So if nothing has been done to this point it would not upset me. I WOULD however, like to know what I should expect moving forward and what the status is currently.
Thank-you for understanding,
Jason

It's now 2/24/2010 and there haven't been any replies. I doubt I will ever see my CV slides or money again. However, I have noticed that the web site is still taking orders.
