I bought a vehicle from this company on Tuesday, 6/7/11. When I got the vehicle home, I noticed the front end was making a lot of noise and sounded like something was broken. I took it to a mechanic and they told me the vehicle was sold to me in "unsafe driving conditions". I called Motormax and talked to Tyler. I told him about it and also explained that I was not happy with the service from the salesman (Jamal). Tyler said he was the owner then proceeded to use profanity with me and told me "Don't throw my f***ing salesman under the bus when he has been her for 10 years and I don't give a s**t if you are happy with the vehicle or not, you bought it". I proceeded to try and explain that the salesman was 15 minutes late and made me late for work, the car was filthy inside (after he told me the day before it was cleaned out and ready to go), and the gas tank was completely empty. Now I have a vehicle that is unsafe to drive and live 45 minutes away from the dealership. I feel that this dealership has treated me with the utmost unprofessionalism and sold me a vehicle that was not safe to drive. Tyler should not be allowed to do business in the state of Michigan. I would like a full investigation into this dealership and expect them to be held accountable for any expenses I may occur to get the vehicle in driving condition.

I expect the front end issues to be repaired by a licensed Volkswagen Dealer at the expense of Motormax of Grand Rapids. I am also requesting a full investigation into the integrity of Motormax and all of their employees and transactions over the past 6 months. If the findings show a pattern of abuse, then I expect their dealer license be revoked so they are no longer allowed to do business in Michigan.

Given the response you got from the owner, it seems safe to assume that this was your standard "as is" used car purchase with no warranty.

"When I got the vehicle home, I noticed the front end was making a lot of noise and sounded like something was broken. I took it to a mechanic and they told me the vehicle was sold to me in "unsafe driving conditions"."

That's backwards.   When you are buying a vehicle "as is", you're supposed to take it to the mechanic and find out what's wrong with it BEFORE you buy it.  The "as is" sheet you signed means that you accepted the vehicle in its current condition.   Unless your state has a law that mandates a minimum warranty on used car sales (very few do), you don't have much recourse.

I proceeded to try and explain that the salesman was 15 minutes late and made me late for work, the car was filthy inside (after he told me the day before it was cleaned out and ready to go), and the gas tank was completely empty."

Yet you still bought the car.   The owner doesn't care about your complaints, his salesman got the job done.
