So this person called me yesterday while I was at work, and I didn't answer obviously. The same person called me again after work, around 6:40 or so, and I answered.

"Hello, my name is Crystal, and I just callled to tell you that you have won a $500 shopping spree. No gimmicks attatched, and I know that sounds to good to be true...blah blah blah..all you have to do is subscribe to one or more magazines for a low price of 3.25 a month, or one full payment of 49.90." I told the woman I would think about it, and she said like an idiot, "oh of course, we are sending you a whole bunch of information tomorrow morning for you to look through." I was not tricked at this point, I kinda knew it wasn't true, but I wasn't all that sure. So I played along. Then she transferred me over to this other lady named Jennifer...and she told me all the same crap that Crystal did, and tried to get my social security number!!! I was like, "OH NO I cannot give you that information over the phone. No WAY." So I didn't, and then the lady asked me for my credit card number. "I am not paying on anything, or being charged, right? Because if I am...I am not giivng you that either." "No, this is for informational purposes only, to verify with your credit card company. You are not making any payments now..."

I logged online and typed in ripoffreport.com, and looked up their company and was not happy with some of the things I read! I called them back immediately, and left a really mean voicemail. "You guys better call me back either tonight or tomorrow morning. Because if my card is charged, you guys are in big butt trouble!" I got a call back within the hour, and I talked to a lady named Jasmine. I serrrriously doubt any of these names were genuine. ANYWAY.

I told Jasmine what had happened and she kinda blew me off, and told me that I misunderstood the information, and that even if I was right, I still gave my card number so I must have been expecting to pay on something eventually..." I SAID, "noooo maam! Your employee told me she was retrieving my card number for INFORMATIONAL purposes only! I made dang well sure of that!" blah blah blah, they are canceling the whole thing for me, and then I called my bank, and they said if the company doesn't comply and keep their promises, I can file a report and get refunded.

Just gives me another reason to foster mistrust for others. =] Do NOT give your card info, no matter what gimmicking lies they try and tell you.

To the person of the original report please read my reply to post # 507190

This board looks more like a chat room for people to went there frustration with there un-informed opinion especially these so called employees spewing there hatred.

These uneducated people work for minimum wage in a dead-end job at a calling center well trained by a few under pressure to fill a quota or no income. Sorry, yet they barely get by and will due anything including lies, decides and threats to get that pay-check.

The lack of there none existing employment record and education makes them easy prey for the few people behind these so called companies to fill there pockets and are replaceable in a moments notice.

No, I am not a victim, have too much education to be even hired by these people rather then helping people with my legal back ground to fight back, dont be intimidated, and utilize your rights.

Anybody can go on the net to find out what to due when victimized by these people and if more people inform themselves than less people are victimized by these scammers.

If you can't cancel the subscription whats your recourse here?

Will you stop charging the account after the 20 months is up and the person doesn't renew?

I have seen at least 3 different fees associated with canceling. Anywhere from $99-$1000, which is it?

What if the magazines you offer aren't ones I'm particularly interested in and I want to cancel my order based on that?

I also ordered there services, and then we found out that my husband lost his job, so when I called to cancel the subscription both of the people I talked to told me that there was no way to end my order. Then they told me that I would have to pay almost $800, for a cancelation fee. I don't know if they understood NO JOB, but that normally means no money....so to ask me to pay $800 is out of the question. If anyone has any ideas I need them. And get this the only other thing is that I still haven't received the "shopping spree", I don't understand how some people can be so heart-less.

Give us a call. We'll be more than happy to correct this problem. We will put a complaint in to the publisher's to do a full investigation of the reason you're not getting the rest of your magazines and we can also extent the ones you haven't received. We promise you to get a full 60 months of your magazines and we will do everything to see that you get them.

I got the same call and thought that the 500.00 dollar shopping spree and the magazine offer. I took it. Well the thing that really upsets me is the fact that they did not inform me that the shopping spree was just for WSN or whatever it's called and the fact that they NEVER have anything in stock. That did make me very angry. But other than that i thought this offer was great. They had Nick Magazine, Seventeen, Cosmo, Spin...A lot of magazine that my dad, little sisters, my stepmom, and myself would have enjoyed.

The problem is I have not received any magazine except for Spin and Nick Magazine since November and I am suppose to receive seven i believe. And i know when the magazines come out because I work at Wal-Mart and all the magazines i've order come in there except for Spin. I know this has to be illegal. I pay 50.00 a month for magazines i'm not even receiving.

So my suggestion to people who receive this phone call is just to tell them your not interested. It's too much hassle and way way to much money.

PAY ATENTION to the BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!!!

I am a current employee of this company and I am going to make this very short for you okay. I am a sales associate of the company, and i deal with people like you every day. The very reason why you are referring to your expierience as "blah blah blah" is because you have a very short attention span. This rewarding promotion for preffered customers is a very good and very very very well explained promotion for customers who pay attention to the "blah blah blah." which evidently you didn't. So I suggest to you if anyone ever calls you with a promotion, and you feel that you wanna go online and post a complaint this is what you should do. OKAY.....THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THIS SO THAT IT WILL WORK FOR YOU.....

First tel the person an the phone to hold on, second, tell anyone in your home to step out for a few minutes, third, turn off all other appliances or electronics in your home, fourth, step in a closet with a light and paper and pencil. okay that was the preperation for the call. Next, get back on the phone......Now if you did all this you should have no problem with the most important part, and that part is ......"PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!!!!!" and thats all there is to it, do you have any questions! So in conclusion to this rebuttal, for customers that are checking up on this company we are very good at explaining what we have to offer you. It is a very good deal and I would encourage anyone to take full advantage of this promotion.

Ok so I'm not trying to be rude or anything, just hear me out.

When you are listening to a salesperson on the phone it shouldn't sound like blah, blah, blah.....I'm sure it didn't. But anyway it is 3.85 per week for the shipping and handling on the magazines. That was my first clue that you weren't listening very well. Also, when you were sent over to the supervisor she was more than likely being recorded as she was speaking with you. They have a very strict script to go by and any false info to the customers means you are out the door, no questions asked. So this is how it should have come out summed up. She told you that your payments would be set up through the credit card company (we do have to have the card info to make sure you have a way to pay for the magazines)! Then she asked you for your card info...and you gave it but didn't think you were making payments even though they are mentioned several times throughout both scripts? O, and everyones names are real that you spoke with, does everyone you work with have the same name?

All I have to say is some people are honest in their mistakes, and buyers remorse does happen ALOT. But think about what you are doing, if you are not comfortable giving out your card number then don't. We have alot more satisfied customers than we do unsatisfied, I guess it happens with every business that way.

Maybe people should pay attention when they are setting up an order with a company...if the rep you are talking to mentions money it probably means you are gonna pay something.
