Our whole Moving Mania experience was just horrible. We were quoted one rate, but ended up paying double due a few extra cubic feet. Who knew a few tubs and boxes would cost just as much as a whole load.

Then the pickup crew arrived an hour late. Totally unprofessional. The MM staff was completely rude and argumentative. We couldn't get a straight answer for our delivery date. It was constantly changing.

We finally received our items from Moving Mania—several streets away as they would NOT deliver to our door. According to their very rude customer service people, they conveniently made it our problem for delivery due to the fact their moving truck was so large.

That wasn’t our problem. But they made it our problem.

They wanted to charge us an extra $400 so they could rent a smaller truck. We didn't agree to their terms. We ended up renting our own truck for $40 and did the exchange while blocking traffic. In the end, MM did not deliver our items to our door or place them in our desired room upon delivery as per the contract—something they LOVE to refer to.

Another problem we encountered was some of our items were broken. (I’ve attached pictures).

So much for MM's supposed “safe” moving practices. Don't trust this ripoff company. They will empty your bank account, destroy your stuff as well as your nerves.

We were quoted one rate, but ended up paying double due a few extra cubic feet. Who knew a few tubs and boxes would cost just as much as a whole load.  For starters, the quote you received was never binding - it was worthless because the only way it would ever be bound, is if the mover showed up at the home BEFORE your move, saw everything, and then provided you a quote in POUNDS - not cubic feet.  Anyone quoting you in cubic feet is going to scam you and had you done research on interstate moves, that's one of the things they point out.  Cubic foot quotes can be manipulated.  Quotes in pounds can't be manipulated.

We couldn't get a straight answer for our delivery date. It was constantly changing.  A delivery date will always have a window of 5-7 days, even for a legit mover.  For guys like this, the only answer they can gove is we don't know because we haven't yet scheduled a truck to head in your direction.

We finally received our items from Moving Mania—several streets away as they would NOT deliver to our door.  Correct.  If the truck moving your items cannot get to your house for whatever reason, then yes, they won't unless you pay for a shuttle which would have been the correct thing to do.

That wasn’t our problem. But they made it our problem.  Actually, it is your problem - It only becomes their problem if you won't pay for a shuttle.

I think this has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever read.  You decided you didn't want to agree to their T&C by paying for a shuttle and then criticize them for not delivering to your door?  So just exactly how are they supposed to deliver to the front door if you won't let them?  I mean that's really stupid.  But that sort of stupidity is laced throughout your complaint.

Another problem we encountered was some of our items were broken. (I’ve attached pictures)  There weren't any pictures, BUT so what.  You decided to unload your furniture off their truck because you wouldn't pay for a shuttle.  By doing that, you voided out your ability to be reimbursed for damages caused by your move.  As the mover, all I have to do is claim you decided not to abide by our terms and conditions, so we absolve ourselves of any responsibility for damage associated with your move, and there isn't anything you can do about it.  You saved $360 by not getting their shuttle and for that, you contractually eliminated their liability to reimburse you for damaged items.  You should have paid for the shuttle.

So much for MM's supposed “safe” moving practices.  We will never know anything about their safe moving practices because you interfered in the process of performing the move, by pulling a stupid stunt.  I don't like any mover that quotes in cubic feet, but you have to be the dumbest customer filing a complaint I have ever read.  You selected a bad mover, who quoted you in cubic feet and doubled price on you, but the rest of this complaint of yours is invalid.

Moving is not an inexpensive venture.  Choosing a mover based on price and trusting your treasured belongings to someone you found on the internet sounds absolutely insane, yet people like this one do it every day.  Find a mover local to you and have them see everything before you move, and have them quote you in pounds.  Find 3 movers that will do that, and select the mover you trust.  If they need to add a shuttle, they will tell you upfront you will need it, and yes it's your problem.  If the prices you're quoted are too expensive for your budget, then don't look for a cheaper mover on the internet.  Do the move yourself and find guys local to you to perform the load and unload.  You will do more work, but you will be in control of everything and the pricing for the move will be cheaper.
