The moving company Moving On Up, located at  2021 Lee Street, Hollywood, FL 33020 and/or 3389 Sheridan St. suite #159, Hollywood, FL 33021.  DOT#811031, MC#360497, FLA#IM146 have stolen all my goods!!!

They were hired to move me from Miami, FL to San Francisco, CA. The picked up my move on Jan 19th, 2011.  Per their contract, their delivery date was "flex" even though they knew I would not be arriving to San Francisco until the 29th of January.  They tried to deliver 3 days earlier to verbal agreement, when I refused, they tried to deliver again and when I told them I had yet not arrived to receive move or pay them (although they knew this already) they tried to charge me $700 to reschedule move, even though the whole move was costing $834 in total.

When I explained I did not have $700 to reschedule, they told me they can put it in a storage nearby and I would have to arrange for the move myself.  I agreed, and they said to call office in the morning to get information to pay and receive information of what storage place my things were placed in.  My first phone call was on the 29th and I have been calling everyday since then to just receive the run around.  The first week was trying to get payment information and have them locate my items and after much back and forth I had to have a friend go in person to their office and pay with credit card.  They fought back and forth saying they ONLY ACCEPT CASH...NO MONEY ORDERS< NO CASHIERS CHECK although their contract clearly states otherwise.

After the company ran the credit card, they gave us the information, only to find out that the key to the storage was with the driver in Texas, and I would have to call him and arrange or they ordered me to break the lock on the public storage.  The driver had no clue what I was talking about, he could barely speak a word of English so needless to say, he never Fedexd me the key.  I spoke to the storage company and they obviously told me that I would be arrested for breaking the lock and that the easiest & best way to do it is having the person send a letter asking for the lock to be broken and allowing me (the Owner) to get her stuff.

For two days now I have been calling them and begging them only to have excuses like "the person who does that isn't in today" or "I will fax as soon as we hang up", "I didn't have their fax number" and so on.  I have now been sleeping on the hardwood floors for almost two weeks, all my school materials are in my move which means I have to re buy everything, and had to miss the first week of school because of having to deal with the moving company.  I don't have the funds at this point to re buy my whole house, or even a bed since I am in school full time.  They have been paid in full so they basically stole all my goods, at this point it's obvious they just want to keep my stuff.  There has to be something that can be done about this.  I am desperate, my body aches from sleeping on the floor and every time I try to call they hang up on me.  I have had to have several friends call, but they just get the run around too.  Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to recuperate my items in a timely matter.  This company should not be allowed to get away with this, SPEACIALLY since they have been paid in full WITHOUT being given the run around!

The information provided here is misleading and it not the truth of what happened. On November 16 we were ordered to pick up this customers furniture to bring it to our stoarage facility for undisclosed time. The price the customer received was based on flexibility on delivery. There was never a guaranteed or time frame for the delivery. The customer didnt know when she would like her items to be delivered. On January 17 we received an email requesting delivery from January 24th and on and it was very clear from the customers email that she was aware that there was no guaranteed delivery date even though she was requesting a weekend delivery. Furthermore this customer received a prorated discount for storage which we dont do with most customers saving her over $100. We answer all customers calls, our office hours are from 9am-6pm but we still answers calls 7 days a week 24 hours a day. Upon getting close to her delivery, we had notified the customer and asked her to please be available upon the arrival of the movers. She claimed that she would be out of town and will be able to receive delivery. After several conversations which she claims that there is no one she can have there. To my best of my knowledge I remember her having her father meet with the movers on the day of delivery.

Upon arrival, close to the location the driver learns that there is no access for a tractor trailer and will need a small truck (what we call a shuttle). We waived that $300 charge for her out of courtesy.  Normally where there is no truck access there is a charge for the usage of a shuttle to help with the transitioning of the items. The customer refused to pay so we paid for the shuttle and for the labor. The customer is complaining that she was sleeping on the floor because she did not have her furniture; however her items were stored in storage for two months while we waited to hear from the customer to make arrangements for delivery and we never felt the sense of urgency. We do our best to meet all of the needs of our customers at all times. Moving from one side of the country to another sometimes runs small implications and we did our best. We apologize for all the inconvenience that this has caused this customer.
