My entire household was picked up in Cameron NC for shipment to S.Africa. It has been 9 weeks and nothing has arrived. How on earth can a company like "Moving Services" be registered with BBB?

Somebody -please tell me who to call. Especially for - John from Chapell Hill in NC. Please can you give me names and contact numbers of possible sub- contractors "moving sevices" might have used. I am so desperate to find my things and I am hoping it is in a warehouse somewhere. Being in South Africa, I have no idea where to start. I do have a lot number on my pick-up invoice and an itemized list. But no trucking company name. The invoice is a generic type with no company details on it.

Celeste, NO ONE STOLE YOUR CARGO

#10UPDATE Employee

Mon, February 14, 2005

Dear Celeste
As you now have the location of your cargo, and probably its in your posetion, you can now revise your statements to reflect that Moving Services never stole your cargo or money.

Moving Services went through a tough time and was not able to give service to it customers.
We apoligize for that and had no plans of getting into defualt.

But your cargo was always safe and secure.
It just needed to be located at the destination which it was.

So please tell the world that we never stole your cargo and that you received the services in full for what you paid.

Yes we had some technical and logistics difficulties but that does not make us criminals
like your friends on this website portray us to be.

We apoligize to all Moving Services customers who had a bad experience with us, we meant none of this, we were understaffed and for this we had bad customer service, all employees tried their best but it was overwhelming.

Celeste we want to wish you the best of luck.

Thank You
Moving Services

John from NC /or anybody : Please help my search is ending up with dead ends. I received info from Bill to contact Euro America- I called but they have not been able to find my container. All I have now is the cell phone number of this guy that picked up my goods. I have called and left 6 messages on his voicemail with no response. Where do I go from here. Bill mentioned that Moving Services contracted Speedlink USA and Omega shipping. I do not have their phone numbers. My problem is I have no booking number and this seems to be adding to the dead end results . Do you have phone numbers that might help me? . I called DCL and CFS logistics also. I am getting more devastated by the day, and I'm desperate for more leads. If anyone can tell me anything I would be grateful.( If anyone else had items picked up in NC please send me the info of the movers used in your area.)

Recent news but still searching

I just want to firstly commend Bill Schureck from the FBI! He has contacted me on two occasions here in South Africa and I recently got some info from him to possibly trace my goods. I really appreciate his guidance.Bill informed me that Moving Services main aim was to take the shipping money. There seems to be very little evidence of them actually stealing the goods. I know that doesn't solve the issues but it certainly sets my mind a little at ease. I don't care what the world says about us Americans when it comes to fighting crime we are definately on the ball! I couldn't ask for a better Christmas blessing than finding my stuff.Keep me in your prayers.
I do have a cell phone number of the guy that picked up my goods and didn't think it would hurt to call. Although he sounds very proffessional on his voicemail, and ends his message with, "GOD BLESS YOU".... I still have not had any response from him! There is a chance my goods are with a particular shipping company in NY. I have sent them the little details I have and they are investigating. To all the others out there, believe, there is hope and I am praying I will find my goods and yours.

Yes, you have to call them yourself!

Celeste, if you want your things, you have to call these people yourself. Giving the number to the FBI might be helpful in the long run, but if you want your things, you're going to have to track it down yourself.

Call the guys that loaded your truck, be REALLY nice to them (turn on the charm)and just say that there's been some miscommunication with the moving company and you wanted to know where they dropped off your things for shipping. Don't blame them or tell them anything about what you think of Moving Services.

I would also call the State Attorney General's office for advice. If people from NC picked up your things and you items are being held in NC, they may really be able to help.

I had to call from Israel, so I know all about the long distance phone call problems. Good luck!

The search Is On, North Carolina to South Afica

Today I was able to locate a cell phone number of the guy that loaded my items. The truck was generic and pick-up took place on a Sunday Oct 3rd @10.30pm!!! Do I randomly call this cell phone number or do I just pass it on to the FBI?? I am so anxious about all this, can't sleep can't eat. Thank-you John for your pointers.I have to make international calls to reach these people and will do so on Monday. it is so much harder to handle this when you are sitting in a foreign country.Bill Shureck called me in SA on Friday night to give advise. He mentioned that there was no inclination of goods theft it was the shipping money that Moving Services was after. It is just a matter of tracking the stuff down. That helps a little but I will not be at peace until I find it!!

Here's Some Advice

#10Consumer Suggestion

Sat, December 04, 2004

Celeste-I am so sorry to thear about what happened to you. It is just terrible what these people do. Just know that you're not alone.

1. Contact Bill at the Miami FBI office. (His number is listed in one of the posts about Moving Services.) File a report with him online so he knows where you are.

2. If you did any transactions with your credit card and Moving Services, contact your credit card company. They are very willing to help.

3. Try to remember the name of the moving company listed on the truck. Do you remember any of their names or where they were located? Call them and ask where they took your stuff. It's probably still there.

4. Moving Services contracted with Direct Container Line (www.dclusa.com) to move my things from Charlotte, NC. David Sanchoyerto at the Miami office of DCL was very helpful.

5. DCL worked with CFS Logistics (704)395-1132 in Charlotte to move my things. All my stuff stayed in Charlotte until I contacted DCL directly. CFS wasn't very helpful and they needed a booking number to look up and find my things in the warehouse. Do you have a booking number?

6. Call their lawyer George Evans (his numbe ris listed elsewhere on the site too.) I have made over 10 phone calls to his office and he has NOT called me back. However, that's what FBI Bill instructed me to do. Right now I am investigating my options for filing a complaint against Mr. Evans with the FL Bar. If Moving Services declared bankruptcy and Mr. Evans is representing them, he has legal obligations to the people Moving Services did business with. At least he could be nice and return phone calls and email.

Good luck and I hope you find your things.

7. And I would also contact the NC Attorney General's office. They investigate this kind of scamming and may be able to help you too.
