Company offered an egregiously underestimated quote for the cubic volume of items, ultimately resulting is an exceptionally higher total cost.

On June 14th Moving USA provided a quote based on my general description of 50 boxes, 11 pieces of furniture and 4 wardrobe boxes, they estimated the total cubic feet as 554 cu.ft, Job Number F480234. This is obviously an egregious and intentional mis-estimate as the standard cubic feet of a queen size mattress and box spring, as I indicated I had, is 90 cu.ft. and each of the 4 wardrobe boxes are 14 cu.ft/per (total 146 cu.ft for 5 items described, or 26% of my shipment). Moving USA did not indicate that they would be sub-contracting my move.

Also, in the contract I signed with Moving USA there was no indication that there would be fuel and toll charges, when the actual moving company arrived I was told there would be an 8% fuel charge and we would be responsible for the tolls they incurred from NYC to Philadelphia, and Philadelphia to Springfield. Moving USA intentionally provided us with an exceptionally low quote to insure the acquisition of our business knowing that we would be forced to pay whatever additional charges would be held to us by the actual moving company- and we would have no choice as we were on Moving day and they would have most of our stuff packed by the time we knew exactly how much over it would be and by that time we would have no choice but to proceed with the shipment. These are deceitful practices that pray on people in an impossible situation.
