We were moving our large furniture from Gainesville, Fla. to Clearwater, Fla. The small items and expensive items had been removed previously. We contacted 123movers.com and received several quotes, including Moving Van Lines, Inc. We had to describe each item to be moved, so that the bids would be accurate. The quote from Moving Van Lines, Inc. was $440.00, which included 4 hours labor for 2 people and $130.00 travel time.

I contacted them to discuss the quote, and the lady named Meital assured me that the 4 hours of labor included only loading and unloading time, and that the travel time would not change. However, when the movers arrived to unload the furniture, they indicated that the charge would be $900.00, OVER DOUBLE THE ORIGINAL QUOTE, and hey refused to unload the furniture until we agreed to the extra charges. They indicated that the quote was just an estimate, and that they did not need to abide by the estimate.

I refused to pay that amount, and after much discussion, they drove off with our furniture. I even offered to pay them an addtional $160, a total of $600, just to make them happy. They now have our furniture in storage somewhere and we are stuck. Moving Van Lines, Inc. is a major scam, and they need to be shut down and taken to court. I hope this get out to as many people as possible.
