Mozilla Tech Support Scammers Provo, Utah Nationwide
I called mozilla tech support to help with firefox issues. Tech logged into my computer and claimed I had viruses, trojan horse and was hacked.
She wanted to assign a microsoft tech ( does Bill Gates know this is going on? I don't think so) to clean everything out for $299. I balked at the price and she quickly reduced it to $199. I explained that I had norton internet security and she gave me some bogus answer as to how my computer got infected even with the norton software.
This didn't sound "kosher" so I disconnected the tech and called Norton. Tech logged into my computer, updated my firefox version and assured me after checking that my computer was clean. All this was free support and took 10 minutes.
BEWARE mozilla tech support. They advertise it as free but they will try and extort money by telling you your computer is a mess. The tech brought up a screen listing my files in RED claiming that these were the infected ones. She also typed in the words Trojan Horse and 2 other ip addresses claiming that this showed I had a trojan horse and that was computer was hacked. These were bogus. I suspect that she inserted that BEFORE she brought up the screen showing me my files.
Call your security softward provider first. (((competitor's name redacted))) is great. They've helped me in the past, all for free.

I never recommended you Google anything. I wrote, “Anyone that goes to techers247.com will see that I am 100% correct.” The phone number that you insist is Mozilla is clearly posted in six places at techers247.com. You clearly lack basic reading skills. You never accepted my challenge to show us where Mozilla claims to offer free telephone support.

I took your advice and googled techers247. Now I know you're either a shill for mozilla or you clearly can't read english. The number that is shown is 855-837-9965 NOT the number I gave 877-383-7827.
I know what I dialed and who I spoke with so you can reply to this as many times as you like and continue to spread FALSE information.
I'll leave it to everyone reading my reports and replies to you. All I can say is everyone BEWARE, this fraud was confirmed by my internet security company AND microsoft.
This is my last back and forth with you on this subject. I'll end my reports by saying "BUYER BEWARE" if you call Mozilla.

I did not dial the number. I Googled it. Anyone that goes to techers247.com will see that I am 100% correct. Instead of admitting you were wrong you would rather continue to lie and dodge the facts.
“They advertise it as free” is not the same as, ”I redialed the number and what do you know it was to an agent at Mozilla.” How did you know to dial THAT number? What is the address of the web page that claimed that was a number for free telephone support from Mozilla? I believe you initially THOUGHT it was Mozilla but now you are unwilling to admit you were wrong.
I challenged your claim, “They advertise it as free” but you evaded the fact that you are unable to substantiate that claim.

Either you misdialed or you work for mozilla.
I redialed the number and what do you know it was to an agent at Mozilla.
I'm not going to keep doing this. This is turning into a p.....g contest. They tried to rip me off and I'm letting everyone know. If this were not true, why would would I file a report??? I use mozilla as my default browser and have always been happy with them.

Two days ago I wrote, “It is unlikely that you were actually communicating with a Mozilla representative.” You proved me correct by providing the phone number of a company called Techers247.com.
“BEWARE mozilla tech support. They advertise it as free but they will try and extort money by telling you your computer is a mess.”
You have failed to justify your false claim that Mozilla advertises free telephone tech support. Mozilla does not advertise that they provide free telephone support. Mozilla did not attempt to scam you.

With all due respect, I googled mozilla and found a phone number that offered free tech support, written in black and white, so your answer is incorrect. Google it yourself and you'll find the same number. Call them and ask for tech support and after they log into your computer see what they tell you and how much they want to charge for fraudulent and unnecessary support.
I have no problem paying for tech support that's legitimate. As I stated in my earlier post, I called the company that I've PURCHASED my internet security software from for far LESS than mozilla wanted to charge me, and they helped me at no charge with a fix that took literally 5 minutes.
Check it out. You'll see I'm right.

It is unlikely that you were actually communicating with a Mozilla representative. Why would you expect free support for free software?
