I thought these programs were free, why am I asked to pay for them?

You get nothing!
The "Members Area" only has links to other free P2P applications and other free download sites.
Nothing else!

The Etomi client that the users download is in reality a hacked up version of an excellent free file sharing program called "Shareaza".

Shareaza is FREE OF CHARGE and OPEN SOURCE.
This means that You will never have to pay for anything.

That is garbage. No such service is offered. I repeatedly emailed and called the numbers. I always get a busy tone. Oddly enough when I call after hours I get through, only to hear a message that I should call during working hours. Go figure....

This is a VERY misleading site. If you get scammed, do as I do, file at the FTC. The more people who report them the more likely that thew will be looked at by the authorities and shut down.

That's a load of crap! You are not giving support to anything, you made changes to a program, added your own name and now give support to a faulty client which will hurt the network.

One more time, that's also a load of crap, you only turned up the speed and transfers to maximum and let the program connect to way to many hubs. It doesn't have any extra features or any improvements.

Since it's Open source you have to host and release the source, I can't see any links to the source files or the Shareaza sourceforge pages.

I don't need a membership, your Etomi client is free for everyone that knows how to use Google.

All your releases have been downloaded several thousand times and distributed on the G2 network for weeks already. Of cause with a big red warning telling people not to use it!
There's no need to use it!
And there is no need to pay for it.

Full support for the Shareaza client, the LimeWire Client and all other clients can be found on the Clients Forum and/or support pages.
