I own a home in Mesa, AZ and discovered that a breaker in our junction box kept tripping. I googled "electricians" and Mr Sparky returned my search as efficient, reliable and on time, so called out a Mr Sparky Electrician to change the breaker - I was advised by the operator that the call out charge would cost $79. The tech arrived on time and proceeded to check my main and sub panels. He identified the fault and changed the breaker but then proceeded to tell me that I had an electrical fault and wanted to charge me almost $900 to locate and repair the fault. I nearly fell off my chair, and said that I would want to do some comparison shopping. He immediately said that the cost of the call out as well as the cost of him replacing the breaker would be waived. I said: "no". He then asked me "how much was I looking to spend?". I immeidatley knew then and there that I was dealing with a dishonest and disreputable company and reminded me of someone in a street market in Delhi that offered you a ridiculous price for an item and when you turned around and walked away started to negotiate with you to bring the price down. I asked him to bill me for what he had done. He proceeded to invoice me for $300 to change the breaker!!!!!!!! I was absolutely fuming and knew in my core I had been completely had; I was given no choice but to pay, but swore that I would make Mr Sparky's tactics known to everyone in the east valley in AZ.

Matter Resolved to my Satisfaction

I wrote to the regional manager of Mr Sparky in Tempe, registering my disapproval of the cost of the service and he responded immediately. I asked him for a price reduction and said that I would not expect to pay more than $150 for a call out and change of breaker under even the most onerous situations, and he promptly issued a refund for the difference. So I credit Mr Sparky for having responsive management and a good customer satisfaction policy, but cannot give them complete satisfation rating unless their pricing comes down to relaity.
