Complaint Review: MRI Overseas Property Darragh Macanthony DCC Property

we put down a 30% deposit after an inspection trip with mri overseas property. the property is located in santa eulaila, albuferia, portugal. This was in december 2006.

the property was under construction with manjoa constrution i.d.a.  our block was just a pile of rods sticking up from the ground. went to the lawyer, told compeletion was spring 2008. this lawyer was what mri sales had organised for us. we are told that she was independant.

december 2006 we paid 1325 euros to be in mri aftersales. we were advised that we had 5 airport pick ups(one per year), snaglist, pre completion pick up, regular devolopment updates, deep clean, accompniment to lawyers, translation service, key collection service, dedicated call centre, access to devolopment reports, dealing with unforeseen issues etc etc the list goes on.

the contract stated "mri is constantly evolving and improving and therefore subject to change.macantony realty internation will gratefully receive suggestions to improve lifetime aftersales membership"

what they did not tell us, we had 2 airport pick ups and no some services are no longer available but would not tell us which. the aftersales web page has gone along with our money. I have e-mailed them, even sent complaint letters to Darraugh Macantony and dominic pickering and still no reply. what kind of company does not reply to e-mails and evidence sent to them by post.

not once did they ever chase up the devolopment and report of progress. we had to chase and chase. in november 2008, considering the property should have well been completed we viewed the property with the esatate agent for the devoloper. they were gob smacked that we were told completion was spring 2008! Then summer 2008, then Autumn etc. the agent stated it was never planned to be ready then. also all the facilities we thought our devolopment should have, had not got them yet.  the building works were nearly complete, just small works to be done, kitchens, bathrooms etc and outside ground work. a swimming pool, shop and reception were in progress. no gyn, sauna, turkish baths, playground, tennis courts, mini golf etc. was advised these were to be installed after the habiation licence along with the wall in our bedroom.

we purchased a 1 bed appartment that sleeps 4. at the moment it was a studio apartment with 2 doors into the lounge. We went immediately to see the solictor, we went  and went and eventually got to see her.  she stated everything was ok and would let us know of the devolopment issues and facilities (or lack of them). We e-mailed her and e-mailed her on our return back to the uk. eventaully she replied and stated was still waiting for the devoloper to reply. we have even stated we will not pay the full asking price because of the facilities. nearly a year later, the apartment is still not done, waiting for habitation licence and we still do not know what has happended to the facilities.

MRI have gone bust or have they. Had a call on house phone, my mobile and partners mobile this afternoon. we missed calls as were swimming. called the number and a call was returning asking me if i had called MRI, I said i must have but thought they had gone bust. It was a different spanish number to the ones we got.  She did not know why we were called by them. Asked them about the aftersales team, she was not sure. would get someone to call back. no one has!

I hope they do, cant wait to tell them what I think! I hope that they were not going to try and sell me something! as stated Buyer Beware, are these a bunch of ex-time sales crooks that are ripping off and have ripped off their customers? I thought they had a good thing going with all the help etc you can get when purchasing abroad. must have got too greedy. who knows.

please do not have anything to do with any of these companies. you may loose your money. look up mri, dcc up on goggle and see what other customers think.
