MRI Overseas Property (MRIOP) contacted me via an e-mail on 16 September 2008 inviting me to take an opportunity to inspect properties abroad without any obligation.

I discussed a trip to Cyprus with MRI who assured me that I would need to purchase a plane ticket for my wife and I and MRI would reimburse the cost less 50per person on our arrival in Cyprus. MRI took our credit card details and purchased our air fares.

On arrival in Cyprus on 19 December 08, Alex, MRI's rep informed us that his boss who authorises payment has had to fly to Spain due to a personal problem and that the next day we would be reimbursed the sum of 643 (GBP) owed to us by MRI.

In spite of confirming that MRI do not pressure people into purchasing, Alex not only pressured us into buying a property but was rude, threatening and very unprofessional. On 21 December 08, Alex dropped us at the hotel in Lanarka and informed us that we would need to take a taxi to the airport the following day as he would not be prepared to waste any more time. He also informed us that MRI would reimburse the taxi cost.

Whilst still in Cyprus, we contacted MRI several times and left messages (incurring a huge cost) asking them to contact us. No one from MRI bothered to contact us.

On arrival in UK, we also telephoned MRI as well as emailed them to complain about the whole issue. After several attempts, I managed to speak with James Forrester, Marketing Manager on 6 January 09. He agreed to reimburse the money within 7-14 days and he also took our bank details so that money could be sent electronically.
