Complaint Review: MrSparky Electricians

MrSparky Electricians BIDA BUILDING GROUP Prices are based on unclear facts and they have a menu that they present you with, starting with the highest price, over $600 and if you complain, going lower. It's like a restaurant menu. They charged my credit card after the i approved the transcation another $59 for the visit. Changing a wire cost me $230. Not even a doctor doesn't charge that for half an hour. Bronx New York

I called MisterSparky and they gave me 3 hour interval. I told them to call me before getting there because i wasn't home. They promised to call 30 minutes before. I got a call from the technician who was at the door so I had to rush to get there although I asked 2 people in the comany (Bill, who answered the phone and tanya who took the order) to please call me before the technician arrived. The technician took a look and gave me a menu that started at $59 and ended at $650. He said he had to change a wire and wanted to charge me the highest price.

I was outraged so he went down to the $205. I accepted that even though it was just replacing a wire. I also had a $50 coupon that reduced it to $172. He went out to his truck for a very long time twice to look for tools, wires, etc. It took him no more than 15 minutes to replace the wire. He told me it was his first day working for MrSparky so he wasn't very sure about things (so I can only guess they told him to just charge the maximum possible, in case I fall for it, i don't know).

After signing for the transaction and giving him my credit card, 15 minutes later I was charged the $59 fee for the visit?!? This is a rip off!  How does anyone pay $230 for replaving a wire? Not even a highly specialized doctor doesn't charge that much for 15 minutes. THERE WERE NO PARTS INVOLVED that had to be replaced, nothing, just retaping a wire and reattaching it. I feel terrible I was taken for stupid.

I AM VERY ANGRY THEY USED MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY PERMISSION TO CHARGE ME SOME MORE ONCE THE TECHNICIAN LEFT AND THEY HAD MY INFO !!

But it would be nice to have clear prices for every job and not start from the highest price down. They didn't replace any parts, they just taped a wire and put it back. The technician went outside to speak with his managers and spent a lot of time on the phone with them. he told me it was his first day so they probably told him what to do over the phone. How do you justify this enormous sum of money in this economy? people don't make over $230 in a day. if it was a major repair, i would undewrstand, but all this communication by phone between the technician and the office that took so long , didn't look good to me. And the first price he showed me, really was too much. I have a witness that was there with me and couldn't believe. Really your company wants me to pay $650 plus tax plus $59 for the trip for a wire? Please revise your practices and prices.

I would suggest that from now on, you do your own electrical work seeing as how it's so easy.

Don't you think their knowledge, tools, travel and equipment are worth anything?

You apparently didn't know how to diagnose the problem or how to correct it.  You have to pay for that. Ridiculous!
