I decided to go with mtc driver training becasue the recruiter i spoke to told me that i would have a job with either u.s express or stevens transport, which i looked into those companies and they seemed ok. also before i got there i asked about expenses what all i would need to bring for money and stuff he also told me that they only money i would need is for one meal a day while im there that they would provide 2 meals a day. well when i got there i knew somethign was up.

i paid 500 cash and the rest i got a loan through the cmpany when i signed the loan papers i asked for a copy and never recived one everytime i would go ask they would tell me they would get it to me. the trainers were wonderful, i have nothing against them. It is the office peopl emainly Sandra Haney. When i passed at mtc i have to have 80 dollars to even get my liscense which i was never tld about. i also never received a copy of my loan paperwork and when i got a job myself at schneider national i tried to do tuition reimbursement which i have in email sandra sent me in a cirlce multiple times.

she would tell me schnedier had to request it then she would tell schneider i had to request it and it went back and forth for months finally i stopped trying until yesterday i received a phone call froma cllection agency saying the amount i owe is double what i was told! its only been 4 months since i left and there is no physical way that it could have doubled like that but if you are looking into MTC do not do it the food was horrible 1$ menu everday only 2 sanwiches and nthing to drink you had to bring you own not worth the price you can find the same ducation for a much better rate and time.!!!

MTC Troubles

Sorry to hear you had such a hard time with your training Mariah. I went through MTC @ Hazelwood, MO back in '06 with a guaranteed hire w/  Stevens Transport. It was a sub-standard clown show with junky equipment, although they do what they promise which is to help you get a CDL. If I'd known then what I know now, I would have never messed with MTC. For anyone looking to get into trucking- don't go through one of these 'trucking schools,' most training companies (like Stevens, CR England, etc.) have their OWN schools that are MUCH cheaper and have a lot less hassle involved. After 1 year at one of these outfits though, (w/ no major accidents or tickets) your insurance rates go WAY down so GET OUTTA THERE Immediately!!! Go to a REAL company that treats their drivers worth half a poop. These companies are just mills  that look at you like you like you're not even human. Stevens just reduced our raises from 1 to 1/2 cent per mile annually. Why? Because of the influx of driver trainees coming in from all of the other industries that are going belly up in this country. Not because freight is scarce - business is better than ever. Best thing to do is go to a community college or vocational center in your area if possible, apply for financial aid & get your CDL there. Pay hundreds instead of thousands. It took me 3 years at Stevens to pay back MTC. Do you 1st year @ a training company then go somewhere like Marten, Crete/  Shaffer, Heartland, New Century - a GOOD company. Don't hang around somewhere like Stevens like I have.
