Complaint Review: Muhaisen & Muhaisen

My family owns multiple commercial properties.  We do all our own leases.  One day we were with Jihad Muhaisen and he offered as a favor to update a lease for a new tenant we had moving into one of our existing properties. He insisted on doing this 'favor' for us.

We gave him our existing lease with all the new tenant information.  All Jihad had to do was plug in the new name, dates and rent amount.  We told him we don't want a new lease as we use this same lease for all our properties.

After it took Jihad more than a month to do this simple favor for us, he submitted it to us with a $600 bill.  We asked why the bill for this favor, he said he ended up doing a lot of research to make sure everything in the lease was legal, although we had this lease originally written by another lawyer.

A month later we received a demand letter with threats to sue us if we don't pay. Since our families are friends and we are from the same community, we didn't want any problems so we bit the bullet and just paid it.

Jihad Muhaisen and the law firm of Muhaisen & Muhaisen should be ashamed of themselves for conducting business like this.

It's no wonder his brother Wadi Muhaisen moved out of Jihad's office and opened his own.
