MUNN"S Air Conditioning & Heating Scott Spruill, MUNN AC Sales Representative Sold me a Carrier Five Star Warranty and refused to honor the guarantee of a 25% saving in A/C energy cost. Fruitland Park, Florida
Scott Spruill, MUNN A/C Sales Representative sold me a Carrier A/C system and a Five Star Warranty which guaranteed a 25% air conditioning energy savings, for the next 12 months, over the prior years air conditioning energy cost. I had a solar hot water system installed in the same year after the A/C was installed. After the one year, MUNN A/C Company and the Carrier Company refused to honor the guarantee using a reasonable approach to the computation. The Carrier Corporation uses a national statistic (56%) as to portion of energy use attributable to the A/C system. In warmer states, per the Florida State Energy Office, A/C can be 60% to 70% of the total energy cost. The Florida State Energy Office also estimates that the average Florida home uses 30% of it's total energy just to heat water. The Carrier Corporation and MUNN A/C do not want to use the statistics for Florida and in addition refuse to adjust the computation for the fact that I put in a solar hot water system just after the A/C system was installed. I discussed the matter with Scott Spruill, MUNN Sales Representative, in August 2010, and gave him copies of my electric bills for the 24 months involved (prior year and year the new A/C was in). I called numerous times when I did not get a response from Scott Spruill. We had a three way call with and Keith Ledford, Carrier Orlando Office, in November 2010 and Scott Spruill was to check into the information I gave them as to the solar hot water heating savings, due to the solar system, and the % of electiric cost for the A/C, in Florida, based on the Florida Energy Office. I did not get a response so I called Scott Spruill numerous times and he "passed the buck" to Keith Ledford, Carrier - Orlando. I called Keith Ledford twice (December 2010 and February 2011) and left messages to call me back but never received a call back. I called Scott Spruill again, on 03/07/2011, and discussed the matter with him. He asked what I wanted and I told him a reasonable computation based on Florida Energy cost statistics and for the fact that I had a solar hot water heater (installed after the A/C unit) taken into consideration. He asked me to make a computation. I made the computation and called Scott Spruill back, on 03/09/2011. I gave him the results of my computation and he said he would have to discuss it with his boss. He said he would call back, in two days, but he did not call me. On 03/15/2011, I called Scott Spruill again. He said that he spoke with his boss, at MUNN'S, and they were going to go with Carrier's computation and refuse to use Florida statistic and to make any appropriate adustments for the Florida statistics and my home having a solar hot water heating system.
