I purchaed a Groupon for Murphy Family Electric.  They came out to install a light fixture which they did.  I asked them to install a plug for a new electric oven. They charged me $225 to install a circuit that they claimed was powerful enough to handle any range.

I went to purchase a range and discovered that instead of installing a 50 amp circuit which modern ovens require they installed a 30 amp circuit.  When I confornted them about this they tried to get me to pay them $1200 to fix it.

When I then confronted them on the fact that this was their mistake they said they would only charge me $770.  After I informed them that the quotes from other electrical companys were only $300 to install a 50 amp circuit they offered to send someone out to change the 30 amp.

When the subcontractor got here he had been given instructions to only replace the outlet for free if the wire in the wall that they installed was 8 gauge wire required for a 50 amp circut.  Otherwise he was supposed to call Sean Murphy.

When of course it was found to be 10 gauge wire required for a 30 amp circut Sean ignored multiple calls from his contractor and sent a message sayng to charge me $770 to install a 50 amp and did not offer a refund of the $225.

At this point Sean is ignoring my calls and those of his electrition.

Elizabeth, we are sorry about your experience. You told our electrician you were purchasing a 30 amp oven. The current wire you had could support a 30 amp, so we didn't run a new 50 amp circuit that we price out at $995 because of the expense of the wire and such, and you wouldn't need it. Why would we try and sell you on something you wouldn't need. We were looking for your best interests. When your 50 amp oven arrived we offered you a discount to our regular rate. $225 wouldn't even cover the costs of the wire. I hope you understand what happen and that we were fair all the way through the process.
