Music In Motion---Tom Hruban Charged over 10,000.00 for custom car fabrication and car was damaged upon pick-up Crestwood Illinois
I took my BMW M5 into Music In Motion in Crestwood after talking to the store manager Tom Hruban and feeling somewhat confident. We agreed on a price and scope of work as well as a completion date. Well needless to say none of those were met. I was told the job would take a month, two weeks in I called to check on progress after driving by the shop and noticing that my car was parked out back and was seemingly untouched. I asked to talk to Tom the store manager and was told he had left for the day. So the next day I decided to stop in, when I walked in the door the next day I saw Tom running to the back into the shop. I went to follow him and a sales associate told me to wait up front (delaying me to buy Tom some time) a half hour later Tom returns happy to see me. He assured me everything was going well he took me back to see my car and the doors and backseat were removed thats it. So in that half hour I was stalled up at the sales counter he had the techs pull my car in and remove the panels to make it look like it had been worked on. I asked him if we were still on track for our origonal deadline and he assured me we were.
So another week goes by and this time I decide to stop by and just drive around to the back un-announced. I walk in to the shop and the look on Toms face is pure terror. He comes over to me smoking a cigar trying to hide the fact that I had interrupted him smoking dope over by his tool box and my car was not even close to being done. He assured me again that it would be done on time.
So the next time I came in to the shop was to pick up my car I called in advance and he said that it wasnt ready and they needed another week I agreed. Another week goes by and I come to pickup my car it is still not complete. He urges me to take it for the weekend and bring it back on monday for tweaking. So I do.
On the way home the audio is cutting on and off and the whole car rattles like it was not put back correctly. The next day I took it to my brothers performance shop in Chicago to examine the work. Tom had made a custom dash to house an eq it looked like crap! A three year old could have done a better job. On top of that the console was never put together right. He also did a custom vented rear deck that also looked horrible and rattled every time there was a little bass. And the last thing is the tweeter pods in the doors They stuck out and looked very plain after talking to my brother (a fiberglass fabrication expert) he told me that all of the work that Tom Hruban did personally was very sub-par and I shouldnt pay for it.
On the lighter side the work done in the trunk was fantastic it looked great and got nothing but compliments from everyone that saw it. I found out later that the head high end installer did the trunk layout and the store manager Tom Hruban did all the work that was shoddy.
So I took the car back the next monday with my brother and told tom about all of these problems and he could'nt seem to understand. "I did the work on the inside of the car myself" he boasted. I replied "thats the only part of the install that I feel was'nt done right, and on top of that you scratched my door panels and the center consoles loose." He then replied I'll order the parts from BMW and call you when they arrive. Needless to say I never heard from him again, everytime I call he is busy or not available. I'll let my lawyers handle the rest. So if you want to go to a over-priced shop thats ran by a drug addict Music In Motion in Crestwood is the place for you to go to.
