I had terrible dealings with this company, and I wanted to share my experience with all of you.

First, I ordered a set of Elixir strings and a Planet Waves NS Capo from them. After I finished my order, I realized the shipping was $32! That's right, $32! That's more than the items! Amazon could ship the same weight for about $6 in the same time period.

Of course, immediately I give them a call and tell them to cancel my order. I give them my reason, and all is good. He says it's canceled.

Then 2 days later, I get an email saying, "Your order has been confirmed." Again, I contact them again and they say, "There is no record of your order in our system, it's probably just a system glitch. Consider your order canceled."

Unfortunately, my Internet got disconnected for a few days. During this time, I received yet another "Your order has been confirmed" email, as well as a "Your order has been shipped." The shipped email came in about 1 hour before I got back online. I contacted them again, and said, "Stop! Stop!" I get no reply.

I then looked at my bank statement, they haven't charged me. I guess it's all just a big system glitch? I searched for the tracking numbers and nothing came up in UPS or FedEx (they stated FedEx, but gave links for both).

Unfortunately, now that's not the case. I got a package from UPS today. Since the "Your order has been shipped" email said the postal service was FedEx, and since the name on the package was not "Musician's Friend", I accepted the package (An extra $3.75 COD!). You see, I have another capo that I ordered from someone else, as well as a Shure SM81 Microphone and an Edirol FA-66 being sent to me they should arrive shortly. The size of this package could have been ANY of those things.

Sure enough, when I opened it, I see a capo. YAY! Could this be the one I ordered from someone else? It took me awhile to realize that there was a set of strings under the brown paper though... and then I cued in that this was a shipment from Musician's Friend after all. ****!

I've contacted them today, and they weren't of much help. They just said, "When the package arrives, be sure to send it back." Well thanks guys... I already got the **** package!

So, I could fight it further and get reimbursed, but I'll probably have to pay for the shipping to send it back. And the whole thing is THEIR fault! I dunno if their ordering system absolutely sucks, or they are starving for business that they need to fulfill cancelled orders... but I would recommend staying clear from Musician's Friend!

Musician's friend has no integrity. Their shipping is outrageous too as they do not provide cost efficient shipping methods. Please don't deal with Musician's Friend. Please support other online musician sites instead.

That's all I have to say. Thanks for listening.

Cancelling Online Orders

#2Consumer Suggestion

Fri, March 05, 2010

I have spent a good deal of money with Musician's Friend.  The products description are accurate and the shipping is fast as well as free if the order is over the designated amount.

I do not understand why Mr. Windsor agreed to pay for an item and it's shipping if he found the shipping to be too high.  Before checkout is complete the total cost of the item/items and shipping is listed.  This was 100% his own error in judgment and should not reflect Musician's Friend as a company at all.
