In the fall of 2002, we were solicited to attend a promo for a free vacation just for listening to MVI's speel on buying a vacation package.

We intended to travel to Las Vegas in February 2003 for our free trip (Which buy the way, if you read the small print there are many other "fees" you can expect to incure). A family emergency prevented us from traveling.

We would like to get our $100 deposit back but have been unsuccessful. This company deliberately gives no telephone numbers, no real way to get a hold of them.

If anyone knows how we can go about contacting them for our refund I would be grateful.

Thank you!

We Want To Help - Three Ways to Contact Us

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, August 22, 2003

Bernardine,

We will be happy to provide you with three ways to contact our company to obtain a refund of your vacation deposit, if it has not yet been sent to you.

In your complaint, you stated several inaccurate comments about our company's vacation certificates. You were given this vacation certificate for free; however, this is not a free vacation. The vacation certificate requires that the traveler pay for airfare or hotel taxes, as well as any items of a personal nature. Also, all accommodations are based on availability and accommodations may be limited or non-existent during peak periods. These limitations are fully disclosed in the terms and conditions of the certificate you received.

These same terms and conditions state clearly that you must send written notice to cancel your certificate and request a refund of the deposit. This is required for our protection as well as the customer's secutity; otherwise, anyone could call up and cancel someone's vacation. You indicated that you had difficulty getting someone on the phone to obtain your refund. You did not indicate, however, whether you had followed the directions in submitting a written request for a refund.

We will regard your Ripoff Report as written notice, we cannot locate your record based on the information you submitted to the Ripoff Report. Our Reservation Database is not capable of searching for a customer by first name, city and state.

Please call us at our expense at 1-800-566-8281 and a representative will assist you in obtaining any outstanding refund. You may also email us at customerservice@minivacations.com or write us at 401 N. Cattlemen Rd., Suite 200, Sarasota, FL 34232.

Thank you for your comments.
