I recieved my credit card statement and there were charges from MWI Connections for $109.95 on it, I called the 1-800 no and they claimed it was from a high school update book that I had ordered last year and I signed up for there discount plan. They said they would take it off on the next billing.

I too was scammed by MWI and have a very interesting turn on the whole story. You see my information (with my credit card #) was sold to MWI without my authority and then used to sign me up for the program.

A company named Harris Publishing put together an Alumni directory for my High School that I chose to participate in .... the information collected was to be used solely for the directory and "not for anyone's political or financial gain" ... this is quoted from the directory itself.

An MWI rep let it slip that Harris had signed me up. Both have stated that the other has my voice recorded authority ... I have offered to pay double what they said I owed if they can find that "voice recorded authority", the truth is that never existed.

When trying to get a refund for this program earlier this year I was met with even more high powered sales pressure to stay a member. THe only reason I got my refund is that I spent four hours dialing their "800" number till I got someone that would refund my money, yes I harrassed the same people over and over again.

The fact is that I have not found a single "happy" customer anywhere on the Internet ... so much for the 7 million happy customers they advertise to have.

I can not wait to see these guys get busted....

Dear R,
if you are such a good company, why you have three dozens different names and why was there a governmental action against your "honest" business?

Maybe you should check your BBB report....

If we were such a bad company we wouldn't have posted our 800# next to your charge nor would we have credited your account. It seems to me if a company was trying to be fraudulent you wouldn't have this type of information. Also, we are a publicly traded company on the NYSE.

I caution people not to believe everything that they read on the internet. Yes, sometimes we do have customers signed up by accident. We cannot control all the telemarketing companies we work with. We don't solicit our program. Their is another party that takes your call when you order something off an infomercial.

Those telemarketers offer you our program and we rely on them for accurate information. Some may tell us that someone wants to be a member when they don't want to be. If we find that out we drop the telemarketer.

However, there are some people that forget they said yes to the program until they receive their billing. We do ask that all telemarketers tape the sales pitch and acceptance of the program. If they do not we will no longer do business with them. Most of our calls are taped and I hear many times when we call a customer back that they have said yes to the program.

So, there is two sides to the story here. Yes, sometimes people are inadvertently signed up when they shouldn't be. If that is the case then we will cancel their membership program. That doesn't make us a rip off just because we receive inaccurate information from another company we do business with.

Things like this happen in the course of business. People need to calm down. If there was an honest mistake made we will work to resolve it.
