Early this evening, 9/18/02, my sister was going over her finances and noticed a charge of $140 on her credit card that she did not recognize. This charge had put her over her limit for that card and there were charges for that. She called the company (MWI Galleria) that the charge was for and was told that someone had agreed on 8/10/02 by phone to accept some membership and that she was sent a membership package.

That was a total fabrication and she told them so. She asked for a refund and was told it would take two billing cycles. She said "No Way! Let me talk to a supervisor." She was then put on hold for ten minutes. She hung up and immediately called her credit card company. They agreed to fix the account and are sending official papers for her to sign. My sister is a working woman with four teenagers and a grandson to care for, so she tracks every penny in her budget, so to try and rip her off would be very difficult.

She is also not someone you want to mess with, believe me. She has already sent e-mails to our state AG, MWI Galeria, all of the local media here in Northern Michigan, and God knows how many others. She started looking around on the web and found a lot of evidence that these bastards have been doing this for a long time. A press release from 9/2000 says that the AG of New York investigated this company and they ageed to be good. Hogwash!

This company is worth $475.7 million and they paid $75,000 to pay for the investigation with no admission of breaking any law and some weak promises of being good. Well, they may be obeying the New York AG, but they sure as hell are doing it other places! I remembered this site and was glad we found it again. Tomorrow my brother-in-law and I will start our own writing campaigns and, believe me, we can think of plenty of people to contact.

On 9/19/02 I wrote an e-mail and sent it to the Attorney General of the US, John Ashcroft, and to the AG of each state I could find an address for, at least 35 of them. I also sent a copy to Bill O'Reilly of "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News. I haven't gotten any response yet, but it is early. I am spending the rest of today 9/21, sending it to as many others that I can thingk of. My sister would probably love to join a class action suit if one starts but is really financially unable to start one. Meanwhile, tell everyone about this vile company and all of its aliases and I bet more people will come forward with similar stories. LET' KICK THEIR BUTTS!!
