I made the previous report about MWI Simple Escapes. I completed some further research on the situation.

My wife and I think that the card in question was compromised after September 11, 2001. In October 2001 we used the card to make an order for American flags advertised on the Internet. We never received the flags and moved 8 months later. We believe that the flag offer may have been fradulant to prey on Americans after September 11.

The fradulent company may have changed its accounts and set up business in conjuntion with MWI to continue to charge credit cards in the following years.

I wonder how many posters on this site also made purchases from similiar adds during that time and never received the product.

Here are some addtional facts on the case:

1. I was charged on 11 SEP 03 for $119.95 and $109.95 in SEP 02.

2. The MWI representative told me my account was set-up in October of 2001. She would not tell me the initial membership fee.

3. The MWI representative also told me that my account had two addresses associated with it; Tuscon, Arizona and Dobbins, Texas. I have never traveled through or lived in these states. She would not tell me the phone numbers or the complete addresses.

4. I called several times to the MWI phone number. I spoke with different "supervisors". One told me that she credited my account for $119.95 and $109.95. This adjustment was confirmed through another "supervisor" on a separate call. However, I had already cancelled my card that was initially charged. My bank told me that the credits would not go through because of this. My bank is conducting a Federal investigation concerning the most recent charge.

5. Check your credit/debits cards monthly in order to catch fradulent charges. Report them immediately to your bank.
