Complaint Review: MWI Simple Escapes

When balancing my bank statement against my checkbook, I noticed a $139.95 charge dated 12/27. After checking with my husband and realizing that neither of us had recollection of the purchase, I went on the Internet to see if there was anything on this company. Fortunately (or unfortunately), there were several reports of this company fraudulently charging bank accounts.

I immediately called the telephone number listed on the bank statement. A woman answered and told me I had purchased this discount program a couple of months ago. She also said that I received a $25.00 gift certificate to K-Mart (I never did). I insisted that she reverse the charges immediately. She, at first, said that I would only receive $103.15 back. After repeatedly accusing the company of fraudulence and mentioning the many Internet rip-off reports, she reluctantly told me that I would receive the full refund with 10 days.

In addition, this woman was very condescending and even laughed at me, accusing me of carelessly using my credit card. Like the other people who have reported this, I do not know how they got my credit card number and agree that someone is out there providing our numbers.
