MXEnergy offered my elderly mother a new "LOWER" rate and guaranteed she would save money.  The female salesperson looked at her current bill and stated "Oh, you're paying $.49 a therm, we only charge $.46.  You will save money".  The bill she was looking at did not in any way, shape or form contain a "per therm" price.  It is just not there.  

So she lied straight out and scammed my mother into thinking she was getting a cheaper rate.  I am currently in the same town and paying $.22/therm to Nicor.  The saleperson guaranteed her savings but is charging her more than 2 times the going rate if she had gone back to Nicor.  She also did not state what, if any, early termination fee there would be.

How do I know the salesperson lied, you may ask?  My mother was currently with another alternative supplier to Nicor and the alternatives do not itemize the therm price on the Nicor bill.  When contacting that company with an issue, they themselves stated there is no place on the bill that lists what they are charging per therm. 

We will be contacting MXEnergy/Constellation and requesting simply to cancel the contract without fees/penalties.  That is all we want.  We are going back to Nicor and will never trust another alternative company again.  They all hide costs from you and then try to sock you with a big bill later.

If these efforts fail, we will be contacting the Illinois Attorney General's Office, Illinois Commerce Commission and the BBB to register complaints. If a company representative would like to provide a response and contact info to resolve this issue I would greatly appreciate it.
