My Urgent Dentistry Dr. Arestea Kakaris Unnecessary Services & Billing Fraud Woodhaven Michigan
After receiving the standard x-rays necessary, Dr. Kakaris with My Urgent Dentistry hadn't seen any reason for pain, she explained that my pain will not be solved without a root canal. She said she wouldn't be able to complete my root canal because it was about $1,200 and there was an issue with my insurance, I applied for CareCredit during my visit which I was denied. Despite me explaining to Dr. Kakaris I couldn't afford it and I would have to return when I resolve my insurance problem, she went ahead and proceeded with the root canal and filling anyway. I assumed she was still examining my teeth when I asked her what was going on now. She said "Oh, I'm doing the root canal, you wouldn't have even known if I didn't tell ya, huh? LOL!"
Although I had effective insurance I still had to pay out of pocket the amount of $330.00 on November 1st 2013. After the procedure was 50% complete she said you'll have to come back so you can get it finished. I did so on Nov 22nd. Then she said I needed another root canal and she started the 2nd one and stated she completed the 1st one which she didn't according to my current dentist. I had a severe infection with 2 unfinished root canals. My insurance explained to my I'd be reimbursed the full amount or at least 80%. Dr. Kakaris's office didn't submit the claim until I called them after about 3-4 attempts.
On 3-way with my insurance and their office, I discovered they billed my insurance and myself and they didn't submit the accurate services I received. Dr. Kakaris called me and explained I needed a 3rd root canal and a crown after she was looking over my x-rays. My current dentist verified that wasn't necessary and either was any of the root canals, I just needed my wisdom teeth pulled. I find that this doctor and her employees were very deceptive. Unfortunately, I researched online reviews after the fact only to discover I wasn't their first victim. Dr. Kakaris comes off as a very sweet, sincere, genuine honest doctor who cares about her patients. She is down to earth, professional and respectful, but all she is in the end is a WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING! DO NOT GO TO THIS AFTER HOURS EMERGENT DENTIST OFFCIE OR HER MAIN DENTIST OFFICE, KAKRIS FAMILY DENTISTRY!

I was a patient of Dr Kakaris at Kakaris Family Dentistry before moving to Texas years ago. Last month, I was back in Michigan for my wedding and I had a dental emergency (well, what a bride would call a dental emergency).
A few days before the wedding, I noticed a crack in a crown on my front tooth. Dr. Kakaris & Val Rika moved their schedule around to fit me in and check my tooth. They performed lots of strength tests on it and gave me instructions on how to be careful with it until the wedding was over.
The crack was not easily visible and after the tests, they eased my fears by explaining it was very unlikely to finish breaking before the wedding. However, just in case, Dr. Kakaris gave me her own personal cell # and said she would make absolutely sure she was available to fix it if something did happen.
Val said if you need any other special needs " We will come to you and fix it right there on the spot" REALLY WHO CAN DO THAT! They handled the situation perfectly before the wedding -- with everything that COULD go wrong replacing a crown, they took the safest path to make sure I looked good on my wedding day. More than that, they were able to fit me in to get the crown replaced after the wedding and before my husband and I went back to Texas. Dr. Kakaris completely and permanently replaced my crown in one visit.
I don't know of any other office that can do that. They have a machine that takes a ton of pictures of your mouth and then creates a computer model of the crown, which is then built in the office and bonded the same day. By the time I went back to Texas, my tooth had been completely fixed.
They were highly professional, very gentle, and the crown looks amazing! If I lived in Michigan, even if it were an hour drive, this is the only office I would go to. If you're looking for a dentist -- especially if you have a difficult or unique situation with your teeth - definitely go here. They are brilliant at what they do.

Finding a great dentist is not an easy task, but since I was introduced to Dr Kakaris 12 years ago, I have been her patient since.
Dr Kakaris has done an amazing work on my teeth and left me with a beautiful smile.I cant explain what an amazing service i usually receive every time I call to make an appointment or the greetings that I get from her staff.
Dr Kakaris is a friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating Doctor who usually sacrifices her nights, weekends and holidays to help her patients. There are times where she stayed open late just so I can go after my work to get a specific treatment.
I would like to share the great experience I've had with Dr Kakaris who have done root canals, fillings, placed crowns and even whitened my teeth.
I drive an HOUR to get to her office, but it is definitely worth the drive. I highly recommend Dr Kakaris to every family and friend who is looking for a great dentist. Her service and knowledge are unbeatable and her prices are amazing
