I was charged $36 on my credit card as an annual fee.  When I called the number, 888 704 1900 and complained, they cheerfully agreed to give me a refund and to cancel the auto-renew on my account.  I must have used this service a year ago and they just set the account to auto-renew.  I wondered how they got a hold of my credit card number.  I recall looking for someone online, probably a year ago, and agreeing to pay for a search.

Lesson learned:  Any time you sign up for any service on the internet, make sure that there is no auto-renew feature, unless you are certain that is what you really want.

One more point, there is advice elsewhere on RipoffReport.com that you should report this type of thing to your credit card company immediately.  Usually, you have 60 days.  When I have called my cc company, they usually tell me that I have to go to the vendor first and ask for a refund.  In this case, and in most that I have dealt with, the vendor will agree to give you a refund, even if they are somewhat sketchy.  Of course, then you still need to check your cc acct to make sure that the credit appears.
I do not believe that MyLife.com (Reunion Search) is doing anything illegal here, they are just doing the kind of thing that will generate a lot of revenue when people do not notice these charges on their credit card statements.
