Complaint Review: Myrtle Medical Equipment

I was reluctant to buy a knee brace or back brace from an phone solicitor but I do use a $14 knee brace from Walmart. The solicitor said that Medicare would pay for it if I qualify. Qualify meant that a doctor has to aprove. I assumed that I would receive a better quality back brace and knee brace than I was already using. In fact, when they came in the mail I could see that they were of a better quality.

I wouldn't have known what these two units cost because Medicare usually doesn't send a bill. However, they did send the balance to my suplimental insurance company; of which I got a statement.  Those people at Myrtle Medical Equipment charged Medicare $2778.86.

I think what is happening is that Myrtle Med. Equip. tells my doctor that the patient requests this stuff, and when they bill the Medicare, only lists part numbers, and policy numbers (never saying that it is a mere brace). Medicare seems to pay the bills coming in not knowing that they are being overcharged.
