In august of 2003, I was hit on my rear bumper while sitting at a red light by a drunk driver insured by Clarendon Nat`l insurance co. As well as 2 other vehicles sideswiped before the Clarendon vehicle was stopped finally by my own vehicle.

The police came and the driver was arrested, and, of course, was at fault, as Clarendon Nat`l insurance agreed to pay for my repairs.

AND a rental car, as I had no other means of transportation. As well as no credit card to rent, and unemployed at that time.

I drove the rental. I got my car fixed, and returned the rental. That should have been the end.

Then I started getting calls from Enterprise rent a car, saying they never received payment from Clarendon Insurance. I asked the guy, "So why are you calling me?" I guess it sounded sarcastic, but I was being serious.

They then sent it to a collection agency, who said they`d send the Sheriff to my house and have me arrested. I tried to call him back to get that on tape, but I was unsuccessful.

I recently contacted the Atty. Generals office, and I recieved a copy of the contract I signed in 2003, that stated, "Bill TO: Clarendon National Ins. Co.", but basically the renter would be responsible if all other payment methods fail.

So it is apparently OK, for an insurance company to deny coverage whenever they want. Thank god I have my homeowners insurance with someone other than Clarendon! If someone broke their neck on my property, I`d be living in a box under the thruway!

I will never pay this "debt", that Clarendon owes to Enterprise.
