N.M.E. After refusing free gifts and my requesting entry in sweepstakes only, tel. was disconnected, unordered mags sent, and credit card charged. Clearwater Florida
N.M.E. takes advantage of the elderly by enticing them to receive magazines for the price of postage only.
After taking my credit card info, they tried to evade answering questions about final costs. When I refuse their final offer and requested that I be entered in the sweepstakes only, the telephone was disconnected.
Five or six weeks later, I began receiving unsubscribed magazines and found N.M.E. charges on my credit card.
I contacted my card carrier and relported this unauthorized billing. They will remove these charges and issue me a new card.
Lesson learned: "Never provide credit card info over the phone until you are certain that you understand the complete details of the transaction.
