I signed up with the fraudulant company about 1 1/2 years ago. When I realized how much the magazine order was, I decided to pay it off in full rather than monthly and just take this as a lesson learned. Well, in January, 2004, I received a phone call from the company I ordered the magazines from. They had changed their name and needed to update their records and files. So, I am asked all of these questions regarding my address, magazine order, etc.

The customer rep decided to fill me in that a recording would be coming on which will record my responses. A question would come up that said are you paying on this subscription? The customer rep (Employee ID# 6014) said to say yes even though I had paid in full. I asked her at least 5 times are you sure I will not get charged for this subscription by saying yes. She reassured me each time that I would not get charged and that it was clear that I had paid in full.

Beginning on March 1, 2004 they automatically took out $49.95 for my magazine subscriptions. I became quite suspicious of the charge but thought it was a charge for a magazine I ordered through my daughter's school fundraiser.

In the middle of March I received a bill for another $49.95 due on April 1, 2004. Now I knew this was not my daughter's fundraiser. So, I called the 800 number and found out that I was being recharged all over again for what I had already paid in full. When I questioned their records, they said the database had been updated with my new information and my old information was gone. They informed me that I could "APPLY" for a cancellation (can you imagine), but they wouldn't promise me that it would be cancelled. I now have to pay $10 through my bank to put a "Stop Payment" on this charge. I don't know what to do. Very disheartening!
