National Association For the Self-Employed AKA NASE & MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company ripoff Corrupt customer service tactics and destroyed us North Richland Hills Texas
National Association For the Self-Employed AKA NASE AKA MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company ripoff, overpayment, pressure sales, lack of honest service, lack of goods, Caused bank to 86 me, con-artists took us for all we had, Terrible service in North Richland hills Texas
I was pressured by a sales person whom got my phone # from the internet. He recived a 300 check and filled out all my paperwork other than for me to sign. Never heard back from him. I explaned to him that i was unable to have funds right away, and that he would have to hold check for 3 weeks. I also explaned that i would not be able to afford this insurance. He told me that it would only come out automadicly from my checking for the first month. But it came out for 3 months.
I called the company many times to try to use there service, and they made me call all the provider Doctors, fax information, and do all the paperwork when i was paying 250 a month. I was never seen by a doctor, the one that was chosen was booked for 3 months.
I had to have an emergancy Dentist Appointment, after having to fax the dentist my list of health opptions ( because Mega Health promised, but never did), they eventualy blew me off for 3 months. So i ended up paying 300 cash for service with a non-provider because i was in pain. I called MEGA life and Health and asked if i can be refunded for this, i guess not.
I also had to fax proof of insurance to SEARS Optical here in Modesto Ca, so i could get my eyes checked. They waited days to get a phone call from MEGA health. I missed appointments, and was embarrised to go in. I finaly got my glasses, although i payed more than half for them when i was suposed to get a 90% discount -said by the sales man.
Finaly I asked them not to take out the funds for the month of August, they said they could put me on Quarterly billing. I explaned that times where hard and i had no money in my Checking that they where raping every month for 250. They toolk the money anyways. I found out when my Bank Branch manager called me and told me, I lost my Checking account privliges because of MEGA Life and Health insurance company.
I canceled service. I Should be refunded all my money. IT was lack of service, aggressive sales, and dishonist money dealing.

The insurance industry is full of scam artists

I replied in more detail on the previous complaint from "Sheila".
The insurance industry is full of scam artists. The industry itself promotes that via its commission schedules. But there is no excuse for not "paying attention". Health insurance isn't a commodity like washing machines. Although health insurance will generally take care of you, there are legal clauses in the policies you need to pay attention to, like in anything else.
"Whisper" has a much overinflated concept of health care insurance, particularly a AHP (association health plan) from NASE.
I won't comment on the "pressured" statement. No one forced Whisper to buy the policy, and, there is ALWAYS a "free look" period in which Whisper had plenty of time to change or cancel (or put on hold) the policy. All of that is very clearly stated in every insurance company's paperwork and mandated by most states.
Whisper's experience with his check is unfortunate. If you don't have the money you shouldn't be giving anyone a check. Tell the agent to call you back in a few months. If you can't afford a car today, don't buy one! In his defense, though, Whisper should have been treated better by the agent.
I can't comment on the doctors issue because there isn't enough information, but the dentist issue is easier. Dental work isn't medical work. Most dentists want you to pay for services and then collect yourself from the insurance company. Second, all dental insurance plans have bucket loads of exclusions and waiting periods. My guess is that Whisper ran into that.
There is no vision care with Mega. NASE offers a discount program - not insurance. All Whisper needed to do was show his NASE card to Sears to get the discount. There are no forms to fill out - it was NEVER "insurance." But, if Whisper believed he/she had insurance, then I can understand the problem. READ THE CONTRACT!
Lastly, if Whisper is paying for health care insurance hoping to get the insurance company to pay for little stuff like doctor's visits, he's in for a shock. The world has changed! If Whisper wants that kind of coverage, it can be had, but not at $250 per month!
Sorry: There is no free lunch.
