My son's car was financed through National City Bank in 2002. I had the payment taken out of my checking account. Last month, Sept. 2004 we traded his car in for a new car. The dealership paid off National City.

A few weeks later National City withdrew another payment. I did not expect this so I was overdrawn on my checking account. I called the dealership who told me the bank should have received the payoff by then and to call them. I called the local bank in Latrobe, Pa. I was told I should be given back the payment in addition to a credit of $13.00. They also told me I needed to call "Consumer Loan" office of National City in Cleveland, Ohio. After being on hold for a time, I explained the situation and was transferred to another office. Again I was on hold for a time, I explained it again.

The "lady" was very sarcastic saying it was my responsibility to call the bank and TELL THEM to stop taking the money out. I asked her if the check was received from the dealership. She said it was but the payments are computer generated and unless I call, the payment would continue to be taken out "forever". At this point, I was getting angry. I asked her when someone receives the check, what do they do with it. Just cash it without adjusting the account. I told her I'm not a banker, but it doesn't take someone too bright to figure out this doesn't make sense. She again sarcastically stated it was my responsibility, it was computer generated. I told her I thought someone had to "feed" the computer information. And again said, someone must receive the check, then what do they do with it. She ignored everything and told me she would take care of it.

A week later I received a paper to sign to stop the payments, then a few days later received a refund in the mail of the payment they took out of me minus the $13.00 the girl at the local bank said I had coming. Needless to say, I will never do business with National City again.
