On March 14th my American Express card was canceled. According to the reps, it was due to some negative line items on my credit report. Of course I was extremely upset because they didn't notify me.

I had pulled my credit report on March 10th, but didn't see anything unusual until I looked at the details and saw that there was a new negative item on my Experian credit report.

The line items reads as such:
Account Name: National Credit Solutions
Account Type: Collection Department / Agency / Attorney
Balance: $177
Date Opened: 12/1/2008
Account Status: Closed
Payment Status: Seriously past due date / assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department
Original Creditor: BMG

I haven't had a BMG account since I have lived in my last two homes, at least 2001. If I have had any account with them at all, it would have been from before 2000. I have never received any information from them, including bills, statements, requests for payment...anything.

Suddenly there is a negative line item from NCS regarding BMG and it has already adversely affected my credit report and has cost me to lose my only credit account. Not having any credit is going to negatively affect my credit score.

I am in the process of disputing this line item, filing complaints with the local BBB. If this is not resolved properly and expediently, I am filing a lawsuit for violation of the FCRA and other laws.

NCS SUSPECTED IN SCAM WITH BMG / COLUMBIA HOUSE

#2Consumer Comment

Thu, December 17, 2009

I am currently on am ission investigating and researching this debt affiliation.  I have known real day "gangsters" in the north east that live off scamming for junk debt.  This is very immorale and disrespectful to the American Way.  NCS choose to place items of people's credit report before sending a requied "dunning letter by FCRA and FDCPA federal law.  The law states that they must send a consumer a notification of alleged debt (the letter cannot be sent later than 2 days from the postmark).  The consumer has 30 days within to write back and dispute that debt.  At that point, if the item(s) is/are disputed by the consumer, the collection agency must "cease and desist all collection activity" (FDCPA quote) unti such time the debt can be reviewed and properly validated.  The collection agency must then rsend a letter allowing the consumer to review the suppossed validated information and the consumer has 30 days to respond with a counter to the validation information.  During all this time the collection agency CANNOT place a ark on the consumer's report during a period where there is validation and debt discovery information being researched and checked.  This law prevent consumers from having marks show up as it did here for you.  NCS chooses to do what it wants.  I tell you, they are like kids in kindergarten that play during reading time because their dad is the govenor despite what the teacher says.  I will be more than happy to help you.  Just let me know.
