After seeing the Vidalia Chop Wizard on tv, I ordered 3 of them. They were app. $19.95 each. I also ordered a smaller chopper that cost app. $10.95.

Upon receiving the order, I was shorted one chop wizard. I checked my mastercard bill to make sure I remembered how many I had purchased. My bill was for $117.45.

I called the customer service number and was told I had only ordered 3 units plus 1 smaller unit. I told them there was surely a mistake since my bill was for $117.45 and should have been $80.00.

I was informed that the shipping/handling charge was $42.65!! I told them that this was a total rip off. I decided to send the items back since the offer came with a 90-day Money Back Guarantee.

After reading through the return policy, I see that they would only refund the cost of the items purchased. They would not refund the money for shipping and handling. So, they had me for $42.65.

The items were mailed in the same box. The box was not heavy at all. There is no reason that the shipping/handling should have cost this much. The items were in a box with no packing around them.

I want to report this scam. I remember nothing being said on the tv ad about them not returning the shipping costs with the money back guarantee.

I wonder if anyone else has had a problem with this company?

Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Martha

The Problem

The Problem isn't the company the problem is that people only hear what they want to hear. Everything is mentioned on the infomercials everything( the costs of shipping, the fact that returns are less P&H,even sometimes that you pay separate P&H). These companies don't just charge to ship the item its not like you or me running to the post office. These are big operations that have to pay employees to print, sort, package, load and unload 53 foot truck. This is all included in P&H. So why should anyone be refunded if these people still spent their time to do all that just to send the consumer a product.

Another fact of the matter is people either see these infomercials late at night when their half sleeping or they only catch enough of it to get the phone number to order. If thats the case how could you remember what the offer was or if it was less the P&H on the return. More people need to really research something before they buy and not just think by catching the last 2 seconds of the ad they know what their talking about.

So many people post so much negative stuff on these websites and when it comes down to it 95% of it is the consumers fault. I can personally prove that. Ya I totally agree there are fraudulent companies out there and I'm totally against them, but a company like this one is totally legit.

I'm sure if you called and explained your situation a little instead of going off the handle and making idle threats they probably would have refunded you some of the P&H I know because I've been on your end and I used to work there for a long time.

Bottom Line read the fine print next time and really listen to the ad before you jump on the phone. Also if your unsure call the customer service instead of the automated lines. Ill tell you these companies wouldn't be getting away with these things if they weren't in the infomercials. Its all in there trust me.

Rip-off on shipping/handling cost

The rip-off on my purchase of the Vidalia Chop Wizard has to do with the amount charged in the shipping. For one to spend spp. $80.00 on an order and then be billed $42.65 for shipping IS a rip-off!! I was not expecting that kind of shipping charge. It took weeks for the items to arrive, so they were certainly not sent by a special method. The items came in the same box. They weighed less than 2 lbs. The shipping charge was not made clear on the TV ad. I was indeed gouged on shipping, and a company should not be making their profit on the shipping charges. BUYER BEWARE!!

however, I have never heard of any company refunding shipping and handling charges for returned merchandise.

Some companies may pay the shipping charges to send it back but never the original charges to send it to you.
