I encountered an accident on the expressway that clearly was not my fault. The other party was issued a citation. When I filed a claim, I first had to search for the responsible insurance company which was National Interstate Insurance Co. from Richfield, Ohio.


The customer service department told me that I would need to send them a crash report that I must purchase and supply. I faxed it to them as they instructed, using my local library and also paying for that. I waited a proper amount of time and they never contacted me. I called them back and was assigned a claims agent by the name of Marge Grozer who told me they had no crash report. I refaxed it to them again at a cost.


I waited some more meanwhile getting an estimate at a body shop. I called the Insurance Co. and was told that I must meet with their claims adjustor who did meet with me and sent the insurance co. his estimate which was $400.00 less than the body shop I got my estimate from. I wrote the insurance co about it. They told me they had cut a check for their estimate (of course) and sent it to an incorrect address so, the check is out there somewhere.


They finally put a stop payment on the check and reissued me a new one. I do not have a chcking account so it is going to cost me to cash it. I am out approximately $100.00 plus the shortage of the body shop estimate, running around to the body shop, driving to the damage appraiser etc. This is not my fault any of it. I have called them numerous times leaving messages on Margaret's message system. Do not deal with these goofy people. If they are goofy dealing with me as a claimant, how bad would it be dealing with me as an insured customer of theirs?
