I bought a motor through National Parts that was to come with a 3-year warranty. They got me an ATK motor that was sent to my mechanic. After he installed it (he is certified) the motor blew within 200 feet. Then they sent another motor, it also blew it did make it a few miles (less than 10).

Upon receiving the motors back, they claim it is the mechanics fault and are leaving me with a car with no motor and will not refund my money.

We sent this customer two remanufactured engines. The first was a purchased engine and the second a warranty replacement. Both have been returned to the supplier and were inspected by a certified mechanic. In both cases, foreign material was inducted into one of the cylinders and damaged the piston, valves and head. There is no getting around this fact. The problem probably did not come from the air intake system. The damage looks like an object was either dropped into the head before the intake was attached, or something was dropped into the intake after it was attached. The damage is text book and isolated to a single cylinder in both cases. The result is that the customer's warranty was voided due to improper installation.

I am not surprised that the same thing happened to both engines since they were installed by the same mechanic. Since the inspector's report is binding and becomes a legal document, we only have one option. That is to get one of the damaged engines back to the customer. Both are repairable. The customer has asked us to do nothing until we hear back from her or her attorney, so that is what we will do. Both engines are being held in storage.

We value all of our customers and do not consider anyone customer service trivial. Our A+ rating with the BBB validates this. The fact remains that the customer's mechanic botched both installations and will not accept responsibility for his actions, even in the face of overwhelming evidence.

We remain ready to assist this customer by returning one of the engines to her.

ATK makes great motors

ATK makes great motors. If your mechanic has blown two ATK motors, he's an idiot. You need to shove one of those motors up his rear until he buys you a new one.

National Auto Parts isn't my favorite company, but in this rare case it sounds like it's not their fault.
