National Readers of North America www.nationalreadersnorthamerica.com Misrepresented themselves on behalf of Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes; I'm in October sweepstakes, won a watch & magazine subscriptions, then charge for others. Great Falls Montana
I received a blocked phone number call from National Readers of North America and the caller announced he was representing Publishers Clearing House to alert me that I was in the $25,000.00 drawing soon. In addition, I had won either a man's or woman's "Genuine Diamond Watch" and my choice of four magazines, mailed to me at no cost, either for the magazines or shipping and handling.
In order to offset the free gifts I was offered an additional 7 magazines of my choice. All of this information with a list of magazines that I could choose would be forthcoming and explained by mail. I received the envelope on Friday, September 5. No list with choice of magazines was included.
Though the first 4 magazines are "free", the other 7, to be received over a 48-month period, I recall, would cost $56.22 per month for 15 month; to a total of $1,011.96. When calling the Member Services "866" number, the pre-recorded message gave a completely different name, "Magazine Reader Service."
I was able to cancel the order with some ease, however, the first payment of $56.22, Operator told me, was non-refundable, but would give me a magazine of my choice for 2 years. All other payments to be cancelled. This non-refundable portion of "contract" had not been explained to me by operator as I recalled, reviewing my notes from the initial call.
By the way, my bank had contacted me to alert me to attempts of use of my credit card number without my PIN near the same time the call came re: my PCH Sweepstakes entry. I'm now contacting my bank to cancel that card and have new one issued.
Let the Buyer Beware! If it's too good to be true; IT IS.
