National Relocation Service Moving Cost Ripoff company. Delivered our goods late and damaged, will not return phone calls! Ft. Lauderdale Florida
I would never use National Relocation Service/Moving Cost. When booking my move with them I was told by Lisa, my moving consultant, that all of the other companies I was looking at were unreliable. I booked with them because they were the cheapest (my company was paying for it and they always go with the cheapest).
The movers arrived one day early so we were not finished packing yet. They were just grabbing anything they could get their hands on and loading it on the truck. They also brought with them a 5 year old boy that my wife had to babysit and entertain the whole time they were there.
After loading everything, the driver backed me into a corner and told me it would be a good idea to give them a tip now. They had posession of everything we owned so I was in kind of a strange position. I gave him $60 and told him we'd take care of them when they dropped our stuff off again.
The driver also took a shower in our home without permission. Then when leaving, one of his helpers washed his large afro in our tub and shook it out and left one hell of a mess for my wife to clean up.
They were supposed to call me with the weight and a total after they went to a weigh station. They didn't. So I called a couple of days later to find out and to see where they were. I was told of the weight and he said they were in Boston! We moved from South Carolina to Arizona. I don't remember Boston being anywhere close to being inbetween.
Well the deadline for their drop off date was May 25. They called on the 24th and said they would be a day late. They called on the 25th from NM and said they would drop off our stuff the following afternoon. They called the following afternoon and said they would drop our stuff off the following morning (the 27th). Two days late!
When the arrived, they still had the 5 year old kid. They were letting him move boxes into our new house. Some of the boxes were irreplacable glass collectables, so I asked them if they could keep the kid in the truck. The driver came in asking us if we had a problem with his son in a threatening way.
While unloading, they unwrapped all of our furniture while it was still on the truck so they didn't have to carry the blankets back out to the truck. I thought the whole purpose of the blankets was to keep our items from getting scratched.
To make a long story short, several items of our furniture were scratched or broken. I called National Relocation Service and spoke to Stephanie. I told her about all of the problems with the movers, by the way they owned the moving company in this case. She sounded very concerned and said she was going to take my complaints to the owner of the company. It has been almost a month and I have not heard a word from anyone at the company.
I filed a report with the BBB and got a response that they were only the broker and the moving company is to blame. Well, they own the moving company! Lisa told me this when I booked my move, and Stephanie told me this when I called to tell them about my complaints.
Next time I move, I'll just suck it up and rent a truck myself and drive across this beautiful country with my wife and the dog.
