I received a call las night from a female with National Vehicle Protection, she identified her company as a Broker. She said my warranty had expired and wanted to offer me a new one. I had to speak with her Supervisor, a male, tell him about my car and he gave approval and transferred me back to her.

She then quoted me a price of $3,393 & I told her I had a quote from another company for $2,500, she said, let me speak to my Supervisor, put me on hold, returned with a reduced price of $2,393, a $1,000 reduced price.

She ask for the name of the company I had the quote from and when I told her, she said, you don't want to deal with them, as they are not 'Certified'.

She he then became even more aggressive and again stated all I needed to do and must do RIGHT NOW was give her a CC for the 'Downpayment'.  (She could not believe the other had not asked for a Downpayment).

I ask for a phone number, so I could think about it and call her tomorrow. She said no, I had to do it NOW!  Then I ask if she would call me tomorrow and again, the answer was NO, YOU HAVE TO DO IT NO!!

So, I said No thank you and hung up, truly believimg it was a scam.

You did the right thing by hanging up on them

You did the right thing. This particular company had already signed a "consent judgment" with the AG of Missouri under their previous name of "Dealership Warranties" for doing similar hard sale tactics over the phone in May 2012.  They changed their name to National Vehicle Protection and it looks like they didn't change their procedures.

You can read all about it by searching for the National Vehicle Protection + consent judgment.

Never buy one of these 'extended warranties' without reading what is covered in advance. Most of these extended warranties are not worth the cost. There are many exclusions and some of them aren't vehicle warranties at all.
