Nationstar Mortgage NationStar Mortgage has Screwed me over. You too? Internet
Two years ago we did a home modification loan. We were only paying interest. Good, because we were having financial difficulties, and we figured by the time it ended (two years later) we would be able to pay. We are.
Well, 3 months ago, I noticed a couple of new charges on my mortgage statement. One was a legal fee. They said it was because it was a home mod. Hmm, then why is it just now placed on my statement?
If nationstar doesn't hear from you in 30 days, they send two men to your door, to "speak" with you. Oh, and nationstar also charges a fee for that.
This past month nationstar added their own insurance to our loan. I told them I have insurance, and there has never been a lapse. My insurance company faxed them the proof three times. Then once I contacted nationstar, they told me when you modify, it's "normal" for nationstar to add on their own insurance. Hmm. So the first year and 11 months it didn't matter?
Everytime I speak to someone from nationstar, they have different things to tell me.
Long story short, I wonder if I should contact a lawyer. Maybe a class action suit?
Don't refinance with this bank!!!!!! Run if this bank contacts you!!!!

One of my mortgages was sold to NationStar a little over a year ago. It was originally with Suntrust. (My husband and I currently have two mortgages on two homes, but the one with NationStar was mine before we married. We are looking to sell it.)
In the year or so I've been dealing with them, I've had no problems whatsoever. They've only called me one time, and that was when I scheduled a payment one day after the due date - an oversight on my part, as I forgot to schedule the payment a few days earlier as I had planned. But the man who called was very friendly, saying he was just making a courtesy call to remind me of my payment and to see if I needed any help. I told him no, that I just forgot to schedule it when I had meant to and that I wasn't having problems paying. He said fine, and that was that.
One time I had a question about something and emailed them through their web site. They responded promptly and politely, answering my question fully. So I've not had any problems whatsoever with them. Now, if I was habitually paying late or not paying at all or something like that then I'm sure they would be treating me differently - but that's to be expected.

The more time I spend on-line, the more I realize I am not alone. I would love to be part of a class action suit.
