This goes back to around Aug-2008, my stepson was hit by a Nationwide Customer, after the exchange of Ins. information and the police having my stepson call our Ins.Co the young man that hit him was not made to call Natiowide, so the next day our Ins. Co was out access the damage, so after numerous call to Nationwide they say they have no record of an accident. After my husband fixed the car and resold it to buy his son another car because he could not walk to college. I called Natiowide back and spoke with a young lady whos attitude was very bad, she told me that since the car had been repaired an sold that it would have to before the board.

I said even though he waited 2 mts to turn it in we still have to wait ,and she again was very rude and said ''thats what I said''.

Not knowing that the folder with the information and pictures would be ''missed placed'' or put in the filing cabinet for no one to see. So in Jan.2009 I was tired of playing with Nationwide after thinking that my husband had lost around $2000.00 on a car that was torn up by the people that say ''Nationwide Is On You Side'' te more I thouhght about it the madder I became, so I filed a customer complaint with Nationwide and within 2 days a rep contacted me and then we received a phone call it was from the youngs lady that put our folder in the filing cabinet it was her boss and she told me that she was very sorry and got the folder out, so after 6 to 7 mts we finally received our payment, but they jsut wanted to give salvage for it and my husband told them it was not salvage before there customer hit it. Then they send the check to my stepson and the car and insurance is in our car dealership name, trying to cause more trouble. But it didnt work,

Just beware if you get hit by some one that has Nationwide for there insurance coverage.

Not surprised for attitude Im dealing with this sorry as* company too. 2 months after their customer totaled my car and still didnt receive a single dollar. They give me single offer I counter with little bit more and since then nothing happened, except one letter where Ms. McDonald say to me : If I do not take their offer they will assume I want to keep my car and they will give me what they offer me first time minus the salvage value Well I dont think they can force mu accept offer I rejected. Anyway I already wrote my own report.

Nationwide approved shop???

You do NOT have to go to a Nationwide approved shop to get reimbursed. You do need to have a Nationwide adjuster estimate the damage to the vehicle for reimbursement, or at the very least good photos and documentation of repairs from a licensed repair shop.

Nationwide has a very poor track record with quality repair shops. They have a reputation for not paying for complete repairs and poor customer service.

Your husband should have never fixed or sold the car without Nationwide's approval. Because the vehicle was not repaired through one of their approved shops, you were not eligible for reimbursement of the cost to repair. You said you had your own insurance company inspect the car... why did you not file the claim through them? You would have had to pay your deductible, but you can always file through your own insurance company.

Nationwide did nothing wrong here. Sorry.

And I know what I am talking about because I work in insurance (not for Nationwide)

I don't think you understand how insurance works or you would see that the company satisfied its obligation to you. Maybe not in a timely manner due to a filing error (God forbid someone make a mistake...) but it was satisfied. No tricks, no gimmicks. Your complaint is unwarranted.
