We had a fire in 6/05/2011. and they claimed that it was a total loss. So the adjuster came out, did the estimate on the structure. And low and behold he had the estimate exactly to the penny. But on the low end of our policy. We have F.R.P. Which is full replacement value on the structure! there is a low estimate and a high. i.e. 188,000$ high being 240,000. He got it perfect to the penny on the low! And to make it even better we asked to have one of there Blue Star contractor's for a estimate. When we pulled up to the house that was burned down. The adjuster and the blue star contractor were having a talk. And when we asked the blue star contractor for a estimate he came back right to the penny. Of what the adjuster had given us. What a suprise. How did he know? How much we were getting. And his estimate was right to the penny. I thought that was privliged information on what we were getting. And then we were supposed to get 9,000$ for clean up. Guess what the blue star contactor again came up with a estimate of 8,900$. 100.00$ dollar's less than what we were to get. Is he a mind reader? Make a long story short, we went and bought a new home. From some one else which was approx. 15,000$. More than his estimate, Nationwide Ins. has Ripped us off. We had a lawyer which read our ins. papers, and told us they owed us close to 25,000$. So know here we are shelling out thousand's of Dollars for a lawyer because Nationwide Ins. told us we had to borrow the 15,000$ to be reinbursed the 15,000. How is that for a oxymoron? So please beware Nationwide is not on YOUR SIDE!!!!!

Your Policy provides conditions to settle disputes, you need to envoke your "Appraisal Clause" of your policy. As a Former Claims Strucutral Estimator Nationwide will control cost by under valuing your repairs based on a contractor they have agreements in place.  They will not pay what is true market value for damages.

You need to watch the personal property replacement of your policy. There is a time limit on replacement of personal property.

Good Luck and remember they are not on your side
